FBI: Most Wanted Finale: Showrunner Reveals Remy’s Fate & CIA Spinoff Secrets

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for the FBI: Most Wanted series finale.

Following an exceptional six-year journey, I’ve found myself bidding farewell to the thrilling series, “FBI: Most Wanted.” The series finale was aired on CBS on Tuesday, May 20th, concluding with the Fugitive Task Force wrapping up their final mission together. In the season 6 episode 22, titled “The Circle Game,” Remy leaves everyone speechless during dinner at his new restaurant – he announces his retirement from the FBI.

Regarding Remy’s departure, there’s another surprise in store as he unveils his successor. In recent episodes of FBI: Most Wanted, the storyline has been leading up to Barnes considering a job in Washington D.C. to reunite with her ex-wife and kids. Instead, it’s been announced that she will assume the role of Supervisory Special Agent right where she is, marking a touching closure to Barnes’ personal growth and her relationship with Remy.

Following the gripping conclusion of FBI: Most Wanted, I penned down some intriguing questions that had been sparking my curiosity. Recently, I got a chance to chat with showrunner David Hudgins who enlightened me on when the finale was penned, delved into Remy’s relationship dynamics with Barnes, and gave us a sneak peek at the upcoming CIA spinoff.

Remy Would’ve Returned To The Task Force If FBI: Most Wanted Had Been Renewed

“Life goes on for the task force and the characters.”

Did you shoot the final scenes for FBI: Most Wanted knowing it was getting canceled, or was the farewell dinner scene included later, once you found out about the show’s termination?

David Hudgins: From the outset, it was decided that the final episode would carry a message of hope rather than despair. Although there were numerous creative concepts at our disposal, I felt it was crucial to provide resolution and move forward positively for both the task force and the characters. Their lives continue onward.

Remy retires. Would he have returned if the show had been renewed for an additional season?

David Hudgins: Yes, Remy would have returned.

In the last few episodes, what was Barnes and Remy’s dynamic supposed to convey about their current state and history of conflicts in “Most Wanted”?

David Hudgins expresses that he’s always appreciated the relationship dynamic between him and Barnes, as they both hold dominant roles (alphas). He believes they gained mutual respect and affection for one another over time.

Are there any Most Wanted characters that you wished had more development, and are there future plans for expanding the stories of these characters within the CIA or FBI?

Indeed, we had more tales lined up for each of our characters. Additionally, there were particular “villains” we often discussed reintroducing – often due to exceptional guest actor portrayals. However, the series “Most Wanted” has concluded.

Hudgins Teases Tom Ellis’ Upcoming CIA Spinoff

“It will be fun to watch Tom take over this character and make him his own.”

Given that the new series is set in New York, what impact might the CIA’s role as a foreign intelligence agency have on their weekly investigations?

David Hudgins: While the CIA has restrictions on its domestic intelligence activities, it currently collaborates with the FBI. Our aim is to delve deeper into understanding this relationship.

Intriguingly, Tom Ellis’ character in the CIA might be likened to an unpredictable explosive device, a trait that could enthrall fans of Lucifer. However, what additional qualities does Tom infuse into his CIA persona that should equally captivate viewers?

David Hudgins describes the character as being charismatic, intelligent, assertive, erratic, and amusing. He exists in a unique environment distinct from conventional law enforcement. It promises to be exciting seeing Tom breathe life into this role and put his own unique spin on it – he’s an incredibly talented actor.

Would you ever be open to doing an onscreen reunion with Tom Ellis and Lauren German for CIA?

David Hudgins: I think it’s way too early to comment on that!
