Variety reports that the team will appear alongside Kevin Connolly in Jonathan Bensimon’s nostalgic re-imagining of ’80s high school films, which combines elements from “Lord of the Flies” and “The Breakfast Club”.

In the heart of a Long Island high school, I find myself amidst an unprecedented parasitic infestation, leading to a strict military lockdown. But as the days pass, things take a turn for the worse when the once-fellow students, driven mad by relentless itching, start attacking each other in a brutal fight for survival. The situation has spiraled out of control, and I’m left wondering who will be the last one standing in this desperate battle for life.

In the role of Hirsch, previously seen in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Into the Wild”, we find him portraying a once vibrant science teacher whose life takes a new direction when he becomes engrossed in uncovering the secrets behind the ravenous mites.

In the upcoming role, Long, fresh from his appearance in “Goosebumps”, takes on a principal character who finds himself in over his head, eventually losing his sanity. On the other hand, Connolly, known for his role in “Entourage”, portrays a relentless and desperate detective lurking outside the school, with the cop engaged in a ticking-clock battle against time.

Speaking about his upcoming project, Connolly expressed, “I aim to create films that sparked my childhood fascination.” Being a devoted horror enthusiast, he desires to produce a film catering to fellow aficionados, offering an intriguing blend of excitement, oddity, terror, and unforeseen twists.

It was entirely logical to start our feature division with such a daring and ambitious project. Jonathan is an exceptional individual, possessing both a fertile imagination and technical prowess that’s hard to find. Moreover, when you have two outstanding actors who can skillfully mix comedy and drama like Emile and Justin, you’ve truly got something extraordinary.

According to Bensimon, Kevin shared a captivating script with him, which was hard to put down. Together with writer Shaun Harris, they transformed it into a gripping horror movie filled with pulp. The cast, skillfully balancing darkness and lightness, brought something exceptionally unique to the project.

The director expressed great enthusiasm about working alongside Kodak and Cinestill, combining unique artistic methods, in order to create distinct visuals for the upcoming project called “Lice.” In addition to his role as the director, he will also take on the responsibilities of the cinematographer.

In further comments, Jeremy Alter, the producer, labeled the production as “fashionable, visually captivating, and unsettlingly funny,” while Gary Goldman, another producer, noted that it featured an “outstanding idea” which tapped into a “universal fear among many parents.

Harris is working alongside co-writer Anthony Musella on the screenplay, and filming is scheduled to start this week in Canada. As of now, there’s no announced release date for the horror movie. However, it’s been made official that Highland Film Group will take charge of the international distribution rights.
