Škoda Unveils Futuristic Slavia B Cafe Racer Concept Inspired by 1899 Icon

Summary

  • Škoda reveals the Slavia B cafe racer concept, inspired by its 1899 motorcycle
  • Designed by Romain Bucaille, it features a futuristic electric design with heritage cues
  • First in a series reimagining Škoda icons with modern styling

Škoda has presented a daring modern take on their 1899 Slavia B motorcycle, showcasing an innovative cafe racer design that harmoniously combines tradition with contemporary style. This electric concept was brought to life by Romain Bucaille, a designer from Škoda Design, who aimed to honor the brand’s history in two-wheeled vehicles dating back to its Laurin & Klement period.

In a contemporary reinterpretation, Bucaille’s design retains the iconic form that once housed a combustion engine, now vacant to accommodate a floating logo and a bold vertical division highlighting its structure. The chair seems to float, enhancing its dynamic profile, while a leather tool bag subtly references the enduring racing heritage of its predecessor.

This concept is referred to as a “forward-thinking café racer in Modern Solid style.” It showcases sleek lines, sharp angles, and a headlight design that reflects Škoda’s contemporary design ethos. Bucaille approached the project with the keen eye of an automobile designer, striving to encapsulate not only the visual appeal but also the spirit of Škoda’s early engineering achievements, as depicted in both hand-drawn sketches and 3D models.

The Slavia B model initiates a fresh collection of revamped Škoda classics, seamlessly merging the past with the future in a two-wheeled context.
