Kevin Costner Slams Yellowstone: “We All Should Be in Prison” Shocking Exit Drama Revealed
Kevin Costner recently made a surprising remark about the TV show “Yellowstone,” which he left under tense circumstances last year, allegedly due to disagreements with the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan.
In a chat with Entertainment Tonight, Kevin Costner (who took on the role of family patriarch John Dutton since 2018) expressed his opinion that all the characters might deserve jail time.
The actor, who is 70, described it as contemporary ranch life, saying Yellowstone managed to portray it exceptionally well. He added that it has a touch of a soap opera.
He implied that everyone involved should face imprisonment, given the numerous murders depicted on the program.
During the second part of season five, Kevin’s character, John, met an untimely and shocking end in a murder-for-hire scheme on Yellowstone. Many viewers saw this death as a symbolic “middle finger” from show creator Taylor Sheridan amidst rumors of a disagreement between them.
Previously, a unique video, exclusively acquired by DailyMail.com, featured the Academy Award recipient expressing her thoughts on the final episode of the series: “I haven’t been contemplating [the Yellowstone finale], I don’t believe I’ve given it much thought; we’ll simply let it pass.

2023 saw whispers of a possible departure by Costner from the show, fueled by speculation of tension between him and the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan.
Kevin Costner’s legal representative, Marty Singer, has refuted speculations suggesting that Costner declined to shoot for longer than a single week during Season 5 Part 2 of the series.
Last summer, Singer stated categorically that the claim suggesting Kevin worked just a single week on the second half of Season 5 of Yellowstone was entirely false.
‘It’s ridiculous — and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second,’ he added.
Filming clashed with Kevin Costner’s ambition to direct his initial movie after two decades, Horizon, which was the opening installment of a proposed four-part Western film series.
In June 2024, Costner officially announced via an Instagram video that he wouldn’t make any appearances whatsoever in Season 5 Part 2.
As a die-hard fan, I felt compelled to share this revelation: After immersing myself in Horizon for over a year and a half, tackling every challenge that came my way, and constantly reflecting on the magic of Yellowstone, a series that resonates deeply with both you and me, it suddenly hit me – I won’t be able to carry on with Season 5B or any future seasons.

He shared, “That experience truly transformed me, and I adored it. I believe you felt the same way. Just a heads-up, I won’t be coming back, but I cherish the bond we’ve created, and I look forward to seeing you at the cinema.
Kevin Costner’s observations about the soap opera genre mirrored earlier criticism from director Quentin Tarantino regarding a TV show, which didn’t go down well with viewers. In essence, the renowned filmmaker disparaged the series, likening it to nothing more than an ordinary soap opera.
The digital dispute began in December 2024, when the filmmaker behind Pulp Fiction was questioned about comparing films and contemporary television series during his guest spot on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, triggering the discussion.

Tarantino acknowledged that certain television series are quite impressive, but he maintains that they cannot match the captivating nature of full-length movies. He particularly cited Yellowstone as a standout illustration of this point.
Tarantino shared that he hadn’t managed to watch Yellowstone for the first three years or so. However, upon watching the first season, he was genuinely impressed and exclaimed, “Wow, this is fantastic!” Being a long-time admirer of Kevin Costner, he found Costner’s performance in the series simply wonderful.
I become completely engrossed in the series, thoroughly enjoying each moment. To be honest, it felt like a blockbuster movie to me at times when I watched the first season.
He went on to say, “I find myself drawn to it while I’m viewing it, but ultimately, it’s merely a daytime drama.
Moreover, to emphasize the point, he mentioned, “Five years from now, you won’t even recall this,” a statement that undeniably excited fans of the popular series.
swift and intense criticism arose, as fans of Yellowstone swarmed social media platforms to protect their cherished show and criticize Tarantino for his perceived dismissive attitude.
