New true crime series based on horrifying British story is trending number one on Netlix right now

The chilling series, titled “Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story“, quickly became the most popular television content on Netflix just a few days following its premiere.

Documentary maker Dan Dewsbury’s three-part series is the newest true crime presentation streaming now, shedding light on fresh aspects of the troubling real-world event from the ’90s that shocked Britain.

The document provides an in-depth analysis of the killings perpetrated by Fred West, which number at least twelve victims. Among them was his daughter Heather, whose remains were discovered beneath the patio of the West family’s house in Gloucester during a police investigation initiated in 1994, following a tip-off from social services.

Investigating where Heather’s body was found initiated a probe that ultimately exposed Fred’s sequence of violent rapes and murders, many of which included his spouse, Rose, as an active participant.

Pondering over the fascination with true crimes and understanding the rationale behind tackling a sensitive topic, Dewsbury expressed his intention to reshape the usual demographic of true crime enthusiasts.

In an interview with The Independent, he explained that his firm belief in this show stems from the knowledge that he executed it correctly.

I’m not sensational in nature; instead, my aim is to attract the largest possible audience. However, I also strive to ensure that this audience recognizes diverse perspectives. My goal was to engage those who are avid followers of true crime, with the intent of broadening their horizons.

On Instagram, the documentarian expressed his intention to provide a voice for the families of the victims and those directly impacted by the Wests’ tragic scheme. He shared some heartfelt reactions from family members who had viewed the series.

Over the last few days, there has been much to discuss. I am incredibly proud of the series we’ve produced, and seeing it ranked number one fills me with a sense of accomplishment because it achieved what we set out to do. (Dewsbury’s post)
