In simple terms, FlixPatrol, an analysis platform for streaming services, recently revealed the top 5 most-watched Star Wars films on Disney+ in 2025. To no one’s surprise, “The Empire Strikes Back” was among them. However, it didn’t claim the top spot, and some fans might find the number one movie unexpected, as well as discovering that certain other Star Wars movies didn’t even make the list.

To clarify, FlixPatrol’s internal data is gathered from all significant streaming platforms, accumulating the top 5 performers in various regions. This list was compiled and arranged using the data aggregation tool from its Top 10 U.S. Disney+ Overall pages for every Star Wars movie. The number of spots on the U.S. Disney+ top 10 chart it has secured since January 1, 2025, is then determined.

FlixPatrol gets data from all big streaming platforms to find the top 5 in different regions. They use their tool to create a list of the Top 10 Star Wars movies on U.S. Disney+ and see how many times each movie has appeared on this chart since January 1, 2025.

In simple terms, every day, each attribute on the top 10 list assigns a score to a film, with the first position awarding 10 points daily, the second position 9 points, and so forth (down to one point for the tenth position). The scores are then added up each day, resulting in the total points.

5.) The Empire Strikes Back

In 2025, it’s not shocking that “The Empire Strikes Back” is one of the top Star Wars movies, but what is surprising is its rank at number 5 with a score of 18 points. Interestingly, it just barely outranked “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which garnered 15 points. 1980 saw the arrival of “The Empire Strikes Back,” a sequel to the 1977 blockbuster “A New Hope.” This iconic film is renowned for introducing the wise Jedi master, Yoda, and stunning viewers with the revelation that Darth Vader was actually Luke’s father. The movie also delved deeper into the universe, while weaving a surprisingly somber narrative. The story reached its climax when Han Solo was encased in carbonite and left us hanging at the edge of our seats.

4.) A New Hope

As reported by FlixPatrol, the initial Star Wars movie surpassed The Empire Strikes Back significantly, garnering 45 points as opposed to the latter’s 18 points.

3. Attack of the Clones

It may come as quite a surprise that “Attack of the Clones,” ranked third among Star Wars movies on Disney+ this year, has managed to accumulate an impressive 63 points.

The second movie in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, released in 2002 as “Attack of the Clones,” takes place a decade after “The Phantom Menace” and lays the groundwork for Anakin Skywalker’s transition to the Dark Side. However, this film has been criticized due to its dramatic love story, questionable dialogue, underdeveloped characters, and plotlines. Yet, fans continue to appreciate Hayden Christensen’s performance in this movie, particularly those with a Disney+ subscription.

2.) Revenge of the Sith

Among the well-liked prequels, it’s no wonder that Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith ranked among the top 5 most-watched films on streaming platforms. However, it might be that the movie received a boost in its position on FlixPatrol’s chart as its third installment marked its 20th anniversary in April, which was commemorated with a special Sith-themed popcorn bucket.

2005 saw the unveiling of “Revenge of the Sith,” a film that offered an insight into how Anakin Skywalker succumbed to the Dark Side, transforming into the iconic villain, Darth Vader. Since then, memorable events like Order 66 and the intense lightsaber battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar have etched themselves deeply into Star Wars lore. 1. The Phantom Menace

Currently, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace edges out Star Wars: Attack of the Clones as the most-watched movie on Disney+, boasting a significant 110 points.

The movie “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” which was released in 1999 following the original trilogy, introduced a modernized look, cutting-edge CGI effects, and the origin story of Anakin Skywalker, along with characters such as Jar Jar Binks (who is set to appear again on Disney+ this year) and Darth Maul, who uses a double-bladed lightsaber. Although some elements are adored by fans nowadays, it’s often not regarded as the best in the series. However, podracing and “Duel of the Fates” have seen a surge in popularity this year.
