Melbourne Radio Star Leaves Breakfast Show After 7 Years: Heartfelt Goodbye
A popular radio personality from Melbourne is taking a break from his highly-rated morning program, a position he’s held for seven years, stepping down from the microphone.
On Monday morning, Jack Post, aged 37, who is well-known for his appearances on The Christian O’Connell Show on Gold FM, decided to part ways with the program in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
Jack posted numerous photos depicting his experiences during the show, such as one where he played the guitar alongside Christian O’Connell in the studio, and another featuring his wife Bianca and son Gordon.
The radio host explained to his audience that announcing his departure from the beloved morning show was one of the most challenging choices he had ever faced.
In a post, he expressed his profound affection for the series, acknowledging its significant impact on him. However, he feels an inner instinct suggesting that it’s the right moment to wrap up this storyline and embark on a new one.
In 2017, when I parted ways with Hamish & Andy on the radio, I was unsure about my future plans – but I was brimming with anticipation and exhilaration, eagerly looking forward to the unknown possibilities ahead.
He added: ‘I’m so happy it turned out to be The Christian O’Connell Show.
‘It’s time to step away again, make space, and see what’s next,’ he shared.
Jack said that he was grateful for the listeners who tuned in for the morning show over the years.
‘Thank you to each and every listener who chooses this as their breakfast show.
He expressed, “I enjoy our morning chats and running into you on the street – please keep greeting me.
Afterward, the radio host expressed gratitude towards his coworkers at the broadcasting station, notably Christian, whom he described as one of the “deepest connections I’ve ever experienced in life.
‘It is the defining friendship of my 30s, and his impact on me will last forever.
There’s plenty more I’d like to share about him, but right now I’ll just express it this way: You have my deepest affection, buddy. My gratitude for all that you’ve done knows no bounds.

The Christian O’Connell Show also posted a clip of the host talking about his exit from Gold FM.
‘Jack Post leaving the show this Friday,’ Christian announced in the segment.
‘I don’t know what to say,’ Jack replied with tears in his eyes.
He expressed: ‘This phase of my life has been extraordinary, almost unbelievable to leave it behind. Yet, I can’t express enough how valuable your support, acceptance, and understanding of my decision have been. I’ll miss you all tremendously.’
He confessed, “It makes me feel a mix of fear and terror, yet it also thrills me and brings me immense pleasure.
He explained further that numerous individuals, such as his parents, didn’t grasp why he was leaving his radio job, but expressed that he felt at ease and peaceful, eagerly anticipating whatever lay ahead.
Occasionally, it seems as if I’m nearing the finish line of a marathon, having given everything I have, despite my deep affection for this production.
2022 saw me, Jack, grabbing headlines as I bravely shared my harrowing battle with post-natal depression. Each evening, this condition would reduce me to tears, leaving me sobbing uncontrollably on the floor.

On his regular radio program for RUOK Day, an Australian radio producer opened up to his fellow host Christian about the emotional burden – feelings of shame and guilt – that he experienced when his son Gordon was born six months earlier, along with his wife Bianca.
He confessed that he felt ashamed about experiencing postpartum depression as a father, but his emotional well-being significantly improved within a short period after openly discussing his feelings with himself, family, and close companions.
Jack shared with his co-host that it all began back in March when his son was born. He recalled the immense joy he experienced throughout his pregnancy, a feeling of excitement that was hard to contain. His anticipation for his little one’s arrival was palpable,” or more informally, “Back in March, Jack’s son was born, and man, I can still feel how thrilled I was during those nine months! I couldn’t wait to meet him. I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve.
Initially, I gave my all as a husband, feeling I had excelled in my role up until our child’s birth. However, afterward, something shifted, leaving me feeling quite peculiar.
Initially, upon seeing that both Jack and Gordon were safe and well, as for Bianca too, Jack did not experience the ‘overwhelming affection’ everyone had predicted he would develop towards his newborn baby.
As a devoted follower, I confess my heart was heavy with remorse and embarrassment, burdened by the fact that this tiny being, whom I should have cherished deeply from the start, seemed to elude my love initially. Yet, as the days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, my affection for him grew immensely – it just took a little while. The tears welled up in my eyes as I spoke of this journey.
After giving birth, I experienced what’s commonly known as postpartum depression – something I didn’t realize could affect fathers too. While I was aware that new mothers often struggle with this condition, I found myself grappling with the same feelings.
Occasionally, Jack would find himself sitting all by himself on the floor within Gordon’s nursery, with his face tucked between his knees, shedding tears profusely.
He expressed that it seemed like Bianca was the one shouldering most of the work, given she gave birth, endured pregnancy, while he struggles with depression and often finds himself in tears on the floor. He confessed feeling overwhelming guilt, shame, and embarrassment about this situation.
