Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has teased a big reveal in season 15’s upcoming finale.
After yesterday’s episode on Instagram, titled ‘The Interstellar Song Contest’, Davies announced that in next week’s final episode, the Doctor will encounter a formidable alliance of both familiar and new adversaries, known as The Unholy Trinity.
Yesterday’s installment featured the comeback of The Rani, another Time Lord who often clashed with the Doctor in the original series. In a post-credit sequence, Anita Dobson’s character, Mrs. Flood, was seen undergoing a bigeneration process and subsequently splitting into two entities – one portrayed by Archie Panjabi.
It was believed that the duo along with Jonah Hauer-King’s character, Conrad, formed the ‘Unholy Trinity’. However, Davies has disclosed that the two Ranis should be considered as a single entity instead.

As a devotee, I share this: “Just two out of three make up the ‘Trinity’. The duo of Ranis can be seen as one entity to me. The final piece is biding its time, a full 160 years from now.” This caption on the image of the trio hints that the third member of this enigmatic ‘Unholy Trinity’ will be unveiled in the grand finale.
He went on to say: “Please stay ready! Here comes the main event! Kick-starting a two-part climax! The Pantheon is starting to move. Our old allies are powerless. And the entire universe is at risk as we approach May 24, in what could be the Ranis’ most frightening experiment ever.
Oh dear, poor Mrs. Zufall! Remember, a distant message is echoing through time and space… ‘Such actions are not typical for tables.’

In yesterday’s installment, we witnessed the comeback of a beloved figure from the past. Carole Ann Ford once again embodied Susan, the Doctor’s granddaughter, who made recurring appearances in the Doctor’s visions and at one point exhorted him to “locate me”.
Susan was a unique character initially accompanied by the First Doctor during the earliest phases of the show. Her name has been mentioned frequently after Ford’s exit from the program.
In her previous season, the Fifteenth Doctor frequently brought up this point, as an example. Meanwhile, the Twelfth Doctor had a picture of Susan on his office desk at the university where he taught, as highlighted in ‘The Pilot’.
