Star of iconic 00s show gives update on revival: “Just wrapped filming”
Malcolm in the Middle‘s upcoming revival series has officially wrapped filming.
Last year, it became known that Disney+ will be reviving the popular ’00s sitcom from the past, featuring the original actors – Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek, Christopher Masterson, and Justin Berfield – reprising their roles as the main family.
Muniz, who portrays Malcolm, has announced that shooting is completed. He described the whole process as simply amazing.

I’ve just finished filming the remake of ‘Malcolm in the Middle’, and let me tell you, it left quite an impact! The whole process was extraordinary – it felt like returning to Malcolm’s chaotic universe, but this time with even more intensity and affection.” (Muniz posted this on platform X)
Experiencing the joy of reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting fresh personalities, having sidesplitting moments, and forging fresh experiences on location seemed almost too good to be real, like a blissful dream I wished would never end.
The performer added: “It sped past in such a flash, an astonishing sequence of flawless instances. If only it could carry on indefinitely.
I’m overjoyed to have been given another opportunity to be part of this show, understanding now more than ever the global adoration for Malcolm and his family. It feels incredibly rewarding!
“Another big thing I am taking away from this experience is how much I truly love being an actor.
Over time, I didn’t truly resonate with that title being applicable to me, yet I now embrace it wholeheartedly and aspire to embody it even more in the days ahead.
“I am so sad to have to say goodbye to my MITM crew, I love each and everyone of you.
Additionally, here’s a thought: Life remains unjust. I gathered an abundance of amazing photos featuring everyone from our group that I intended to share, but unfortunately, Disney doesn’t allow it… Instead, visualize us all in a single frame, enjoying every moment together!
Previously this year, it became official that Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will be stepping into the part previously held by Erik Per Sullivan, who decided to leave acting behind.
In the original series, Malcolm’s youngest sibling, Jamie (who was an infant and toddler back then), will be portrayed by actor Anthony Timpano in the upcoming production.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that we’ll meet Malcolm’s younger sibling, Kelly (played by Vaughan Murrae), in this new series. This character was born after the timeline of the original show.
