The performance garnered unanimous praise from critics, earning a perfect score of 100% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes based on 12 assessments.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my delight at the exceptional praise that has been bestowed upon Rankin’s performance. His portrayal not only resonates as a worthy successor to John Hannah and Ken Stott, who captivated audiences in their roles during the 2000s ITV series, but also serves as a solid foundation for the entire adaptation.

As a gamer, I can’t get enough of Richard Rankin’s performance. His portrayal is so authentic that I find myself never growing tired of watching him, always rooting for him – even when he acts like an absolute fool!

The Wall Street Journal said “Mr Rankin is one of those unorthodox casting choices that works.”

One intriguing aspect of this Rebus character is attributed to the captivating way the actor portrays his disheveled proficiency, his steadfast resilience, and raw survival instinct. His performance feels incredibly authentic, according to The New Statesman.

Prior to the broadcast of the show a year ago, the lead actor Rankin had an in-depth conversation with Digital Spy where he discussed his perspective on the character and emphasized the significance of exploring the psychological depths and fragility of the detective.

You can currently stream Rebus on Netflix for UK and Ireland subscribers. Additionally, it remains accessible on BBC iPlayer.

The inaugural print issue of Digital Spy’s magazine, “British Comedy Legends,” is available now! Grab a copy from your local newsstand or buy it online for only £3.99.
