Danny Dyer’s Daughter Sunnie Opens Up About His Addiction Struggles and Her Showbiz Dreams

In simpler terms, Danny Dyer’s young daughter openly discusses how seeing her dad struggle with substance abuse has shaped her personal decisions and professional goals.

18-year-old aspiring actress Sunnie, who recently attended the BAFTA TV Awards with her dad, has opened up about her past, present, and future aspirations.

Pondering over her father’s history, Sunnie mentioned that witnessing his battles with alcohol and substance abuse during her growing-up years wasn’t easy.

I shared with The Sun: “Witnessing my father’s battles at times was incredibly tough,” underscoring the impact those events had on me in terms of understanding and respecting my personal boundaries when it comes to alcohol use.

She mentioned: “If he was facing difficulties back then, we could have had a conversation, but at my younger age, I wouldn’t have comprehended it.

As a kid, I found myself shielded from many life realities at home. Conversations that were commonplace among my peers in school were foreign to me. It left me feeling disconnected and saddened by the stark contrast between my world and theirs.

As challenging as life gets, I can’t help but see my dad as my most cherished companion. He’s not just a parent to me, but a profound influence shaping my career journey.

She has previously attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School, an esteemed institution known for nurturing talents like Dua Lipa, Amy Winehouse, and Billie Piper. Her ultimate goal is to receive a BAFTA award, an achievement her well-known father accomplished this year, winning Best Male Performance in a Comedy for his role in ‘Mr Bigstuff.’

This rapidly emerging figure, boasting an impressive 104,000 Instagram followers and managed by Grail Talent, has recently graced several high-profile events. Given her lineage, it appears she’s poised to tread the same path as her renowned family members.

To launch her entertainment career alongside her famous father and reality TV star sister Danny (who won Love Island in 2018), Sunnie has been making regular appearances on the red carpet in recent times.

In March, Sunnie attended the premiere of “Marching Powder” alongside her sister Danny and her footballer partner, Jarrod Bowen, to mark the movie’s debut.

In that very month, Sunnie adorned herself in an elegant strapless black dress and stood side by side with her father and sister during the 2025 BRIT Awards ceremony.

Apart from that, she also graced the event of a special screening party for Danny’s film, Rivals. More recently, she accompanied her father to the BAFTA awards.

Besides gracing numerous red carpets lately, Sunnie has also ventured into the sphere of influence-making.

The rising star often shares videos trying on Dress2Party’s prom dresses on her Instagram.

Previously, she had attracted the attention of PrettyLittleThing, as she aimed to leverage her social media presence for potential collaborations and business agreements.

Besides the fact, she’s also starred with her father in a music video for Kate Nash’s ‘Wasteman.’ This early appearance marked her initial steps into acting.

Her father, aged 47, is well-known for acting in television series such as EastEnders, The Business, Rivals, and more recently, Marching Powder.

Sunnie acknowledges that she appreciates her father’s professional accomplishments, but deliberately skips over the sex scenes in his work, instead concentrating on his performances in other areas.

The confession was made following the festivities for her 18th birthday, which took place at an 80s-themed, boisterous gathering with her renowned kin in April.

In a nod to Kelly LeBrock’s character Lisa from Weird Science, Sunni donned the famous pink and black ’80s outfit.

She captioned her post: ’80s Partayyy Thank you everyone who came love you all smm ur the best’

I, completely smitten, orchestrated an over-the-top ’80s extravaganza for my little one, decked out with a towering three-tiered, frilly pink confection adorned with vintage makeup and a vaping device as the crowning glory.

The previous daytime television actor has three kids – Dani (Love Island winner), Sunnie, and Arty (aged 11) – with his spouse Joanne Mas.
