Emma Stone had a sweet reunion with a reporter who said she changed his life. 

In a recent interview, the actress, aged 36, was discussing her newest venture, Eddington, following its highly acclaimed premiere on a Friday, where it garnered a seven-minute standing ovation. During this conversation, the journalist brought up their prior encounter.

The film critic from Kazakhstan began by expressing his gratitude to the actress.

He expressed his gratitude for such a profound impact on his life, stating that it was almost as if she had transformed it entirely. A mere twelve months prior, they found themselves in the exact same press room, and at that time, he referred to her by her given name, Emily.

Initially known as Emily Jean Stone at birth, she later decided to adopt the stage name ‘Emma’, finding that there was already another actress going by the name of Emily Stone in the industry.

‘Yes, very good to see you,’ Stone said as she recalled the interaction. 

He described how a single word in a video he made led to it becoming extremely popular in both Western media and his home country of Kazakhstan. This unexpected fame catapulted his career and transformed his personal life entirely.

In the year 2024, during the promotion of her movie titled “Kinds of Kindness,” a journalist referred to Stone as Emily for the first time. Upon hearing this, she exclaimed to director Yorgos Lanthimos, “That’s my actual name!

Stone wasn’t the only one who shared a personal memory at the news conference.

The reporter inquired whether any members of the cast had worries about potential scrutiny from the Trump administration due to the courageous films they produce.

After a few moments of silence Pedro Pascal, 50, shared his experience.

Previously at the news conference, he expressed his desire for everyone’s safety and security, and he strongly emphasized his wish to stand on the correct side of future historical judgments.

‘I’m an immigrant. My parents are refugees from Chile. I myself was a refugee,’ he asserted.

As a refugee from the oppressive regime of Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship in Chile, I was fortunate enough to find safety and ultimately thrive in the United States after initially seeking asylum in Denmark.
