An investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has been launched, focusing on allegations of sexual misconduct and unpaid wages against legendary Motown singer, Smokey Robinson, following claims made by four ex-employees.
As a film enthusiast, I find myself compelled to share an update about Sir William Robinson, aged 85. Just this month, he found himself entangled in a lawsuit filed by three ex-housekeepers and an ex-assistant. They claim that not only was I, William Robinson, coerced them into intimate relationships, but also failed to meet the minimum wage requirements or provide overtime pay as required.
The court case submitted in the Los Angeles County Superior Court not only implicates the singer but also charges his wife, Frances Robinson, with repeatedly shouting at staff, using offensive language that targets ethnic groups, and apparently ignoring her husband’s sexual misconduct allegations despite claims of knowledge about such actions.
Christopher Frost, the lawyers for the couple, has refuted the claims. Specific details about the Sheriff’s Department investigation weren’t released on Thursday straight away.

Four former employees have filed a lawsuit against Smokey Robinson, accusing him of sexual misconduct. They are demanding a minimum of $50 million in compensation and claim that both Robinson and his wife were poor managers.
According to Nicole Nishida, representative of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, they are currently probing accusations concerning William Robinson, also known as ‘Smokey Robinson.’ The investigation is still at its initial phase, so we cannot provide any additional details at this time.
According to Frost, since the women submitted a police report following their lawsuit, it falls under the Sheriff’s Department’s responsibility to look into the accusations.
Frost described the police report as an “attempt, seemingly desperate, to sway public sentiment and escalate the already sensationalized media coverage beyond what the Defendants had previously managed.” He added that his clients are open to the investigation.
The final evidence will clearly show that this lawsuit is merely fabricated with the sole intention of damaging the reputations of Smokey and Frances Robinson, driven purely by greed.

Smokey Robinson’s lawyer refers to the accusations made in a sexual assault lawsuit as ‘malicious’ and ‘unfounded.’ He plans to petition the court to drop the charges against the Motown legend.
According to the court case, these women initially hesitated to inform the authorities about Robinson’s suspected misconduct for various reasons such as concern over their immigration status, potential loss of income, embarrassment in public, and being threatened or intimidated by Robinson and his powerful associates.
Lawyers for the four women, who have chosen to remain anonymous (Jane Does), expressed satisfaction upon hearing that the Sheriff’s Department has launched an inquiry into the allegations of sexual assault made by their clients.
In relation to LASD’s continuous investigation concerning Robinson, our clients are committed to providing full cooperation. This collaboration aims to achieve justice not only for them but also for anyone else who might have experienced similar assaults at the hands of Robinson,” stated attorneys John Harris and Herbert Hayden.
From a passionate filmgoer’s perspective:
I’ve recently come across some troubling allegations against the Robinsons. The lawsuit claims they’ve been negligent, committed sexual battery and assault, falsely imprisoned, caused emotional distress intentionally and negligently, engaged in gender violence, and fostered a hostile work environment. On top of that, it accuses them of labor violations regarding wages, breaks, meal periods, holidays, and overtime pay, as stated in the complaint. It’s a heavy pile of accusations, to say the least.
According to the allegations, the singer of “Tracks of My Tears” was said to have demanded different kinds of sexual acts from several women, including vaginal, oral, and digital, across his homes in Chatsworth, Bell Canyon, and Las Vegas over a period of years.
Jane Doe 1 was employed by the Robinsons from January 2023 up until February 2024; Jane Doe 2 worked there from May 2014 through February 2020. Jane Doe 3 held a position with them from February 2012 to April 2024, while Jane Doe 4 was part of the team from October 2006 up until April 2024.
