Teddi Mellencamp: Cancer-Free in Sight After Immunotherapy Triumph

Teddi Mellencamp shares optimistic news about her ongoing fight against Stage 4 cancer, as she discusses the progress of her immunotherapy treatments.

In 2022, the 43-year-old reality television personality and daughter of musician John Cougar Mellencamp received a diagnosis of Stage 2 melanoma skin cancer. This year, due to multiple brain tumors, her condition has been upgraded to Stage 4.

In late April, she disclosed that her brain tumors had noticeably decreased, suggesting she might only be several weeks away from being completely free of cancer.

On her podcast co-hosted by Tamra Judge, the previous Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member shared an update directly from her ongoing immunotherapy session.

She mentioned that she recently underwent a scan, focusing on her lungs. The results indicated that her lungs have been reducing in size, and one of them has significantly diminished to the point where it’s hardly visible.

John Mellencamp stated, “This is fantastic news! I’m incredibly relieved. However, since I’m currently undergoing therapy, I might sound a bit peculiar. But they told me that this is good news, which means my body is reacting positively to the treatment. Yet, I must continue immunotherapy for the next two years.

For the following two years, I need to visit every four weeks for a procedure that needs to be repeated. Additionally, I’ll undergo another scan every three months to ensure everything remains in its proper place, as she explained.

Teddi confessed that she had been somewhat puzzled, saying, “I guess I assumed that when the tumors began to diminish, it meant I was no longer battling cancer. But he clarified that wasn’t the case.

She said, “He’s similar to you; we’ll inform you once you’ve achieved remission. At this moment, however, everything seems to be progressing positively.

When Tamra enquired whether the immunotherapy was managing or eradicating the cancer, Mellencamp replied, ‘It does a bit of both.’

Teddi stated, “Everything is gathered in one place, allowing them to perform various treatments and determine what’s best for you specifically. This seems to be the case for many individuals.

Teddi expressed her gratitude for living in California, mentioning that in other places, people often need to visit multiple doctors in various locations. In contrast, she finds it more convenient as her medical care is more like a “one-stop” solution.

The update comes just a month after she said doctors gave her a 50/50 chance to survive her cancer.
