The suspenseful series starring Amanda Seyfried, titled “Long Bright River,” has stealthily appeared on a streaming service in the United Kingdom.
Anticipated by a chilling first trailer, the series adapts Liz Moore’s 2020 book of the same name.
Developed by Moore and Nikki Toscano, this gripping eight-part crime series focuses on the character Mickey Fitzpatrick (Seyfried), a police officer patrolling a challenging, crime-ridden district in Philadelphia. As Mickey delves into her professional duties, she uncovers a string of murders that may be linked to the disappearance of her own sister, propelling her towards an intense and potentially dangerous investigation.
The entire show debuted on Peacock in the U.S. in March, while viewers in the UK can now stream it through Channel 4’s online platform.
This series boasts numerous unquestionably favorable ratings on IMDb, with one viewer expressing they were captivated from the initial episode, while another couldn’t tear themselves away and finished it in just a single day.

In addition to Ella Rae Peck portraying Mickey, Long Bright River features Ashleigh Cummings in the role of Mickey’s sister Kacey who has gone missing, Nicholas Pinnock as Truman Dawes, a man formerly associated with Kacey, and John Doman as Gee, the grandfather of the main character.
Last year, when the series was initially unveiled, Moore and Toscano expressed excitement, stating that “Amanda Seyfried is set to spearhead a drama about survivors who unite to reclaim their strength.
The television series was inspired by Moore’s personal background, her dedication to reducing harm and serving communities in Philadelphia – particularly in addressing addiction issues. This show seeks to empathetically depict the lives of individuals battling addiction, as well as their loving families.
Speaking about the latest updates on Seyfried’s projects, the actor has shared thoughts on the delay of the anticipated third Mamma Mia! film, which was once hinted at.

Actor from “Mean Girls,” known for portraying Sophie (Donna’s daughter), hinted that it might take some time yet before we get to see the third installment on our television or movie screens.
Judy Craymer, the producer, is continually working on it, but Universal Studios has yet to release “Wicked 2”. She mentioned this to The Hollywood Reporter in March. The initial “Wicked” had to be put on hold when “Mamma Mia! 2” was being produced. When it comes to musicals, it seems that only one can be made at a time.
I think Universal senses that we will eventually go ahead with our plans, so they aren’t feeling pressured. As a result, the cost is likely to be twice as much.
At present, a trip back to Greece is not planned, but instead, you can look forward to seeing Eva Green in the upcoming psychological thriller by Paul Feig titled “The Housemaid“. Joining her in this film are Sydney Sweeney, Brandon Sklenar, and Michele Morrone.
Long Bright River is available to stream on Channel 4 in the UK.
The first physical magazine from Digital Spy is available now! You can purchase “British Comedy Legends” at your local newsstands or online for only £3.99.
