Jamie Lee Curtis Regrets Getting Plastic Surgery at 25 and Shares Her Honest Story

As a die-hard admirer of Jamie Lee Curtis, I can’t help but share her recent revelation about a comment that sparked her decision to undergo plastic surgery at 25, an action she now wishes she hadn’t taken.

66-year-old Oscar-winning actress, who recently reconnected with her True Lies co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger, discussed the stress she experienced from societal pressure to undergo cosmetic surgeries during her career and the emotional strain it caused afterward.

She shared that, following negative remarks about her appearance from a cinematographer on the set of her 1985 movie “Perfect,” where she acted with John Travolta, she decided to undergo plastic surgery.

60 Minutes reported during their Sunday broadcast that Jamie said something along the lines of, “I won’t be shooting her today because her eyes look tired.

At age 25, his comment was quite awkward for me. As soon as the film ended, I opted for a bit of cosmetic enhancement.

Jamie chose to undergo an eye-puffiness removal plastic surgery, but later on, she felt the operation didn’t turn out as planned, and to this day, she continues to regret the decision.

The celebrity stated, “At your age, around 25 or 26, that isn’t the best choice to make. I felt regretful about it right away, and I’ve continued to feel a bit remorseful ever since.

As a connoisseur of life’s finer aspects, I can’t help but reflect on my past choices and the lessons they’ve taught me. Once upon a time, I made a decision that now, looking back, feels like a missed opportunity more than ever before. That choice was to embrace an unnatural aesthetic in my career, a path I’ve since come to regret.

However, this realization has led me on a transformative journey towards becoming an ardent supporter of embracing one’s natural beauty. I wholeheartedly believe that the true power and allure of a person lies not in artificial enhancements, but in the radiance of their authentic self.

She declared: ‘I’ve taken on a very public role to tell women that they’re beautiful just as they are, and indeed, it wasn’t a wise decision on my part.’

As a consequence of her plastic surgery, she found herself relying on painkillers due to the discomfort experienced post-surgery.

Jamie explained: ‘I became very enamored with the warm bath of an opiate.

It’s worth mentioning that I occasionally partook in a modest amount of consumption… I’ve never been one to make a fuss or participate in large-scale protests. Instead, I’ve always been quite reserved and secretive about this habit. However, over time, it turned into a definite dependency for me.

This year the star celebrated 26 years of sobriety.

Thirty years after their steamy scene together in the blockbuster action romance “True Lies”, Jamie recently shared a passionate kiss with her co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger, as we recall from those days ago.

At Amazon’s Upfront 2025 event in New York City on Monday evening, the star who recently appealed emotionally to Mark Zuckerberg about AI was accompanied by a 77-year-old action hero.

At the famous Beacon Theatre in New York City, it was clear that the two were thrilled to be reunited, as Jamie affectionately kissed Arnold backstage during the special event.

Backstage, they engaged in conversation and took a few photographs together before performing jointly on stage.

On stage, they were unable to resist each other’s touch; in fact, the actress from Everything Everywhere All At Once reached out and touched the Predator actor’s face as if to plant a kiss on his lips.

Jamie was later joined by Elizabeth Banks and Octavia Spencer on stage.

In the 1994 movie True Lies, Jamie Lee carried out her memorable impromptu striptease scene without any prior planning.

In a June 2021 installment of the People In The ’90s podcast, the actress shared insights regarding the well-known scene.

An intriguing fact: The performance didn’t have a rehearsal or a choreographer. Jim [James Cameron] simply asked me, ‘What kind of music would you like to dance to?’

The actress mentioned that she requested the John Hiatt track “Alone in the Dark” and, during filming over the subsequent three days, she danced as if no one was watching.

Curtis mentioned that we kept repeating the scene, and gradually it became more tranquil.” or “He explained that we filmed the scene multiple times, making it progressively calmer.

In an unexpected turn, the actress from Knives Out mentioned that the tumble during the show wasn’t part of the script, but rather a spontaneous idea proposed by Cameron.

She remembered: ‘We kept repeating the action, and it gradually became quieter. At some point, Jim approached me and murmured in my ear, “Can I have a pad if you release your grip on the pole?” To which I replied, “Of course.”‘

Curtis mentioned that the scene proved to be a massive success among viewers when the movie premiered, and he confidently stated that it would provide him with the largest laugh of his entire lifetime.

In a quick decision aimed at lightening the tone and broadening its appeal, the actress mentioned that Cameron, who is 70 years old, proposed a change for the scene at the last minute.

As a devoted follower, I realized that the dance was overly sensual and authentic – it seemed like a tangible enchantment cast upon the wife by her husband. In our rehearsals, we performed the scene twice, with me relinquishing my hold on the pole during those takes.

It was shared that the script for Halloween was penned with her specifically in mind by Cameron, a fact she found especially gratifying.

What made it so impressive for me is that Jim specifically composed it for me. When someone does that, it means they truly understand you – they can hear your voice in their mind.

Later on, Curtis pointed out that since she was supposed to be the main actress for the project, she felt that Cameron seemed open to allowing her to try different things and ultimately shape the role to fit her unique style.

In particular, she conveyed her appreciation for the remarkable liberty she experienced as an actress during the production of both True Lies and A Fish Called Wanda, likening it to the greatest creative autonomy she has ever encountered.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d like to share an intriguing tidbit: The star of Freaky Friday disclosed that she had been privy to her role details months before the formal casting. This means that by the end of August, I found myself in a rather unique situation – preparing to dance merrily while donning my most intimate garments, or as you might put it, my modest undergarments.

1994 saw the release of True Lies, which was a modern adaptation of the 1991 French film titled La Totale!.

The main focus revolved around a character, portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is a government agent, grappling with the challenge of harmonizing his work obligations with his private life.

Additionally, the movie featured Bill Paxton, Eliza Dushku, and Charlton Heston, alongside several other talented actors, in diverse secondary parts.

Back in the day, when True Lies hit the big screen, it was like a storm of applause from critics! It raked in an astounding $380 million worldwide on a production budget that topped $100 million. As a fanatic follower, I can’t help but feel proud and exhilarated knowing I was part of the audience for such a spectacular show!

Work on the sequel started immediately after the initial movie’s release, and a script was prepared for this venture. However, due to the September 11th, 2001 terrorist incidents, the project was ultimately abandoned.

Currently, plans are underway for a TV show adaptation of the initial movie, and it’s anticipated that filming for the pilot episode will take place towards the end of this year. Notably, Cameron continues to be part of the project in his role as executive producer.
