In the original storyline, Ellie and Dina are allowed by Maria to follow him, leading Ellie on a path to vengeance. With Ellie taking the lead in the television series initially, some viewers had speculated that Tommy might not be making an appearance at all. However, Jesse’s statement that he is with Tommy has debunked this theory, positioning Tommy on a trajectory similar to his character in the game.

In the TV show compared to the game version of Tommy Miller, one significant difference is that he has a son in the series. This alteration makes some of his actions, such as traveling to dangerous locations and confronting heavily armed adversaries, less plausible since he’s now a father. It wouldn’t be surprising if he decided not to go under such circumstances. However, with his current location being Seattle, there’s a possibility he could experience events similar to those in The Last of Us Part II, like the sniper confrontation against Abby and Owen.

Jesse ventures alone to Seattle in the game to aid Ellie and Dina, only to find that Dina is pregnant with his child upon arrival. Yet, when Abby learns about the demise of her friends Mel and Owen, she sets out for the movie theater with the intention of exacting revenge on Ellie. Abby swiftly ends Jesse’s life, acting without hesitation.

Tommy’s destiny doesn’t lead to his demise, but it remains far from a joyful one. After the Seattle event, Tommy, unable to track down and eliminate Abby, becomes consumed with revenge. He later discovers that someone fitting Abby’s description has surfaced in Santa Barbara, and he tries to persuade Ellie to accompany him. When she refuses, he lashes out at her for abandoning the pursuit of justice for Joel, and that’s the last we witness of him.

The character of Tommy from HBO’s “The Last of Us” could potentially deviate from his game counterpart, as the portrayal so far suggests a less vengeful personality. Actor Gabriel Luna brings Tommy to life convincingly, but he appears more responsible and family-oriented, not seeming to be fixated on seeking revenge against Abby for personal reasons. With a wife, children, and a town to care for, it’s hard to imagine him dedicating his life to pursuing her demise. However, the chaotic environment of Seattle with its various factions and infected creatures could lead to unexpected events, potentially causing a bloody confrontation.
