Persona 5 The Phantom X global release teased
ATLUS has shared a mysterious message hinting at the worldwide launch of the offshoot title, Persona 5: The Phantom X.
Get ready to slip back into the roles of the Phantom Thieves as Persona 5: The Phantom X, a spin-off from ATLUS’ beloved RPG series, is about to hit global markets. This upcoming game has been hinted at by official ATLUS social media accounts.
Persona 5 The Phantom X is coming soon
On our official social media channels, there was a straightforward message: a picture showcasing a Persona 5 calling card featuring a character other than Joker, accompanied by the phrase, “Reclaim Your Wish.
Instead of immediately speculating about the long-anticipated Persona 6, the image suggests that the topic at hand is more likely related to P5X.
Sadly, ATLUS didn’t provide a definite launch date for the game, only asking us to keep an eye out for updates.
What is P5X?
Back in 2021, “Project X” (originally known as that) was first unveiled as its codename. The game eventually launched in April 2024 across China, Taiwan, and South Korea. Japan’s player base even got a sneak peek with a closed beta test towards the end of last year. You can play it for free on iOS, Android, PC, and Steam platforms.
The gameplay in P5X resembles that of a traditional Japanese Role-Playing Game (JRPG), but with an infusion of gacha elements. This blend makes it reminiscent of Honkai Star Rail by HoYoverse. You’ll encounter characters, some of which are fresh and unique, while others are familiar faces from the franchise, that you can collect through a system similar to gacha.
In essence, the game maintains the distinctive style that Persona 5 is known for. Not only does it mirror P5 in terms of plot and narrative flow, but it also introduces a new cast of characters, the Phantom Thieves, who operate in an alternate universe. The main character, depicted in the promotional image, goes by the alias Wonder. The game’s emblematic figure is Lufel, also known as Cattle.
In the game, every member of the Phantom Thieves of Heart, such as Kasumi Yoshizawa, can be found. However, the team S.E.E.S. includes all characters except for Metis.
Since the game has been stable in China, Taiwan, and South Korea for some time now, it seems like a worldwide launch is imminent. Fingers crossed that ATLUS will provide updates soon.
