The first-ever glimpse of “Sunny Dancer,” the heartfelt new British movie featuring Bella Ramsey and James Norton, has been unveiled.
In this comedy-drama penned and directed by George Jacques, we see Ramsey portraying Ivy, a teenage cancer survivor who finds herself irritated upon being compelled to join a summer retreat specifically designed for youth dealing with cancer. Although her health has significantly improved, the camp experience is far from what she anticipated.
Although initially hesitant, Ivy eventually forms strong connections with several new individuals. Her previous teenage skepticism is replaced by a heartfelt compassion as she grows to appreciate genuine affection, enduring friendships, and laughter.
Featuring a strong ensemble with Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Gunning, and Ruby Stokes, the initial snapshot of the upcoming film Sunny Dancer, set to be released in 2026, reveals Ramsey’s Ivy alongside her fellow campers at the summer retreat.
According to executive producer Herbert L Kloiber, we’ve been mesmerized by George’s heartfelt, quick-witted, and fundamentally positive storytelling. The cast has gathered for an expression of uplifting optimism, and George shows great confidence in his role as a director.

As a gamer, I’d rephrase that as: “The camaraderie among our talented young actors is astounding – whether it’s during our early morning calls, lunch breaks, or late into the night after we’ve wrapped, their on-screen bond feels genuine and seamless,” said producer Ken Petrie. “On set, what you’ll witness is a depiction of real friendship.
Jacques expressed an overwhelming level of enthusiasm about having incredibly skilled individuals joining the team. These professionals are true experts in their respective fields, and they are collaborating to produce a film that offers both laughter and emotional depth.
My goal is to make the audience laugh so hard they’ll cry, then move them to tears, all while revealing a new perspective on how the young fearlessly navigate life’s challenges. Rather than portraying them as victims, I aim to show their strength, complexity, and vibrancy.
Besides the previously mentioned actors, Sunny Dancer also includes Daniel Quinn Toye, Earl Cave, Jasmine Elcock, Conrad Khan, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Josie Walker, and Louis Gaunt in its star-studded lineup.

As a teenage cancer survivor like Ivy (Ramsey), I’ve been given the chance to breathe fresh air and connect with others who share my journey at the Children Run Free Camp – a summer haven designed specifically for young adults impacted by cancer, thanks to the encouragement of my talkative mom and caring dad.
The camp’s motto, “A place where kids can be kids,” doesn’t help ease Ivy’s worries, and a quick internet search only validates her concerns when she finds an embarrassing promotional video overflowing with cheesy catchphrases and typical sunset backdrops.
Instead of merely overcoming cancer, it seems I’ve been tasked with another hurdle this summer: a place I call ‘Chemo Camp.’ At first, I was hesitant about this journey, but as fate unwillingly leads me through this camp experience, I find myself unearthing unexpected emotions and forging bonds with remarkable new friends.
Sunny Dancer is scheduled to be released in 2026.
