Alice in Chains confirm tour cancellation after drummer suffers ‘medical emergency’
Alice in Chains made the announcement on Monday that they are cancelling their upcoming tour and all scheduled festival appearances due to unforeseen circumstances. This decision was made following the cancellation of a show on May 8, as drummer Sean Kinney encountered some unexpected health issues.
Tonight, following our soundcheck at the Mohegan Sun Arena, I found myself in an unexpected and non-life-threatening medical situation. Regrettably, this means we have to call off tonight’s performance. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused.
In just two days, the band announced on Instagram that they were cancelling all their forthcoming shows.

The “Would?” and “Man in the Box” band had plans to perform four concerts throughout the United States, followed by two shows in Birmingham, U.K. These performances included a July 5 opening act for Ozzy Osbourne’s final show and Black Sabbath’s reunion concert titled “Back to the Beginning.
“We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support at this time,” the band added.
Fans promptly backed the group in their choice. One fan argued that a more compassionate introduction for the statement could have been, “Immediately, without any doubt and with our utmost concern for the health of our brother and fellow bandmate…
Details concerning Kinney’s status and the cause behind the “medical incident” remain undisclosed.
