Simon Pegg in Tears: What Tom Cruise Did That Made Him Break Down on Set
Simon Pegg got emotional as he spoke about Tom Cruise and revealed what made him ‘shed a tear.’
In the latest installment of Mission: Impossible, the 55-year-old actor, who recently completed work on this movie, has once again taken on the character of Ethan Hunt’s trusted ally and good friend, Benji Dunn, in the field agent role.
On The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio UK, while discussing with The National Lottery, Simon expressed that saying goodbye to twenty years of his life was a deeply emotional experience for him.
In his words: ‘People often discuss the thrilling stunts, but what truly defines the film is a deep, emotional core.’
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but marvel at how each character is meticulously crafted with their own compelling narrative arc. Every single one of them experiences a profound, emotionally charged climax that leaves me moved to the core. It’s an incredible journey!
A tear fell, and I believe this was due to a combination of factors. Firstly, it struck me that this moment marked 20 years of my life. Secondly, there were some truly impactful moments in it that resonated deeply.

Host Chris replied: ‘You’re tearing up just talking about it. I can see you glazing over.’
This coming week, Mission: Impossible – Fallout will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14, marking the conclusion of the movie series that originated in 1996.
In another location, Tom captivated fans with a comprehensive chat about his extensive career on a Sunday at the IMAX building of the British Film Institute in London.
In an interaction with fans, he openly shared that his decision to join the Mission: Impossible series started with Brian De Palma’s initial film in 1996 was driven by his ambition to reinvent the action genre. This aspiration arose following a successful run of critically praised performances during the late 1980s and early 1990s that significantly boosted his professional standing.
He remarked, as reported by Deadline, that it was more a matter of contemplating Mission and pondering, “How might we act upon it?
My focus is on enhancing narrative and performance by incorporating more emotions into my stories. To achieve this, I delved into learning various stunts and camera techniques to improve my skills and advance the technology I use.
He noted that despite lacking a formal background in acting or cinema, he managed to collaborate intimately with renowned filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, as well as legendary actors like Paul Newman from “The Color of Money,” who guided him in mastering his art.
Previously, Tom found a strategy where he persuaded studios to assign him overseas assignments for different film projects, enabling him to understand movie production techniques beyond the U.S. borders.

During that period, Hollywood truly embodied its reputation. It was heavily focused on American culture, yet it had a significant emphasis on the international as well,” he stated.
In a bold statement, this Collateral star asserted that he was the one who initially proposed the concept of hosting international red-carpet premieres for Hollywood studios. This move, he argued, aimed at fostering and expanding global film culture.
Later, he reminisced about the period he spent working on A Few Good Men, and the remarkable moment during the final courtroom scene with Jack Nicholson that stood out as an exceptional filming experience for him.
Cruise often had important figures from Hollywood visit their Los Angeles studio to observe him and Nicholson engaging in spirited on-stage exchanges.
Additionally, he shared his reason for declining the opportunity to reprise his role in the follow-up to the hit action movie Top Gun (1986). His motivation was to explore various film genres and broaden his acting portfolio by taking on diverse roles.
‘My goals are endless,’ he reportedly said to hearty applause.
