In a touching tribute, it’s been reported that an unforgettable alligator, who shared screen time with Steve Irwin and Eddie Murphy in the 2001 film Dr. Dolittle 2, has passed away.
In a Colorado reptile park, Morris, a renowned 2.7-meter-long American alligator, sadly passed away in captivity on Sunday. He was one of the most recognized reptiles in his industry.
He was thought to have been about 80 years old.
Colorado Gators regretfully announces the demise of our eldest alligator, Morris. Known for his roles in numerous films and television productions from 1975 to 2006, Morris chose to spend his retirement years here at Colorado Gators. This was shared on their social media platform.
In 1975, Morris measured about 9 feet in length. Given his rate of growth and loss of teeth, it’s estimated that he was over 80 years old. We deeply mourn the natural end of this extraordinary being. Rest in peace, Morris.

In one of the standout moments from Dr. Dolittle 2, the cherished reptile made an appearance. This scene, humorously enough, showed him playfully nipping at Irwin, who was portraying himself while taping his TV show The Crocodile Hunter. Murphy’s character watched in disbelief as this unfolded.

It comes just months after Paul Hogan’s beloved Crocodile Dundee co-star died in Darwin.
In a tragic turn of events, the massive 5.1-meter, 700 kg crocodile character featured in a humorous adventure movie passed away in confinement during December.
He was thought to have been over 90 years old.

The herpetarium penned a touching homage to the renowned reptile, which is known as one of the most well-known crocodiles globally.
The account of Burt’s life highlights his remarkable strength, unyielding resilience, and a character that mirrors the audacity of the Northern Territory.
In the 1980s, Burt was caught near Reynolds River, later becoming globally renowned. He graced our screens in Crocodile Dundee and significantly contributed to the perception of Australia as a land teeming with untamed natural wonders and extraordinary wildlife.
In 2008, Burt traveled to Crocosaurus Cave, where he became an impassioned and captivating advocate for crocodile learning. His passionate demeanor won over both his handlers and visitors, gaining them all respect.
