Bindi Irwin has broken her silence after being rushed to hospital in Las Vegas on Saturday.
At the age of 26, the conservationist had to undergo emergency surgery for a burst appendix, mere hours after arriving in America for a gala event honoring her deceased father Steve.
On Monday, she posted a video from her hospital room on Instagram, disclosing that she’s making progress towards getting well.
Bindi said her appendix, along with another 14 lesions, were removed.
Additionally, she underwent surgery to fix a significant hernia that occurred post-pregnancy, when she welcomed her daughter Grace (aged 4) into the world in 2021.
In my experience, I’m incredibly grateful for the assistance I received from both Dr. Seckin and Dr. Chu at Lenox Hill Hospital. For quite some time, I had been dealing with an unsettling appendix issue, but it wasn’t until the day of our Steve Irwin Gala that I realized I couldn’t ignore it any longer.
Following our discussion with Dr. Seckin, it was decided that a trip to New York would be beneficial, as he could re-examine me for endometriosis. Fortunately, the surgery turned out to be a great success.
Two years ago, I had surgery to remove my appendix, 14 additional lesions, as well as 37 endometriosis lesions and a cyst. Additionally, I underwent a hernia repair that I acquired during childbirth four years prior.
I’m genuinely appreciative, expressing my gratitude for being on the mend, or rather, moving towards wellness again. I couldn’t help but feel touched by your thoughtful messages of support during this time.
Apart from commending her brother Robert for his excellent work on hosting the gala, she expresses gratitude towards her spouse Chandler, daughter Grace, and mother Terri for their consistent support.
She reassured me that we would meet again at the upcoming Steve Irwin Gala in Brisbane this coming November. One step at a time, it’s important for us both to recover now. Wishing you all well, she concluded with affection.
