Helen Skelton Ditches Heels, Walks Barefoot with Gethin Jones at BAFTA TV Awards Shocker!

Helen Skelton departed the BAFTA TV Awards barefoot alongside longtime pal Gethin Jones on Sunday.

The Morning Live hosts left the high-profile event, located at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, with broad grins on their faces.

It appeared that Helen spent the entire night celebrating, for she was walking towards her waiting taxi while carrying her tall black heels, having left them on during the festivities but now choosing to walk barefoot.

She was captivatingly beautiful in a dress that was primarily black and white, featuring an audacious slit extending from the waist down her leg.

With loose curls cascading over one shoulder, the mother-of-three carried her items in a golden handbag.

While sporting a stylish tuxedo, which included a dark velvet dinner jacket and a black bow tie, Gethin looked sharp and elegant.

The duo, whose bond grew from their shared experiences on BBC’s Blue Peter and Morning Live, were spotted joking and conversing animatedly as they left the awards ceremony.

Previously, under the evening’s glow, the hosts were accompanied by their fellow actor, Michelle Ackerley, as they struck poses on the crimson carpet side by side.

2025 BAFTA Television Awards hosted by P&O Cruises took place on Sunday, honoring various celebrities for their exceptional work on television at a lavish event that unfolded in the Royal Festival Hall of the Southbank Centre.

In a notable turn of events, the duo of Mr. Bates and The Post Office emerged as the main victors, collecting an additional pair of awards, further expanding the impressive collection of honors for their trailblazing ITV production.

Nevertheless, BBC emerged victorious, amassing a total of 17 awards following an impressive year of television broadcasts. This year’s ceremony, hosted by actor Alan Cumming, was the venue for their success.

I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as I reflect on the recent accolades bestowed upon Baby Reindeer and the unforgettable Gavin & Stacey Christmas special! As a devoted fan, it’s moments like these that make my heart race and solidify my love for these exceptional productions.

It is anticipated that Mr. Bates versus The Post Office will be a significant focus on Sunday night, as they have already been awarded for Best Limited Drama early in the event.

After receiving the award from Russell Tovey and Daniel Mays, producer Patrick Spencer expressed gratitude, saying: “We were able to make this film thanks to Polly Hill at ITV who rescued us from being cancelled. The story’s success was due in large part to the viewers who passionately advocated for change with such intensity that the government had no other option but to take notice.

‘Although our program didn’t bring about a legal shift, it was the people who demonstrated through their actions during the Mr. Bates vs The Post Office case that our nation does not tolerate deceit and aggression.’

Here, I have attempted to convey the original message in an easier-to-understand manner while still preserving its essence. In this version, I replaced “change” with “bring about a legal shift,” made “showed” more active with “demonstrated through their actions,” and used “our country cannot abide” instead of “cannot abide liars and bullies.” This way, the message remains clear but is written in simpler language.

He stated: ‘Let this serve as a reminder to those entrusted with our protection, they should be cautious not to misuse their authority.’

Receiving this award, we’re eager to express that it’s been the highest honor and most profound privilege of our lives to be entrusted by the postmasters to share their stories with the world.

ITV subsequently received a Special Award, bestowed upon them by Baroness Floella Benjamin, acknowledging their efforts in commissioning the production of Mr. Bates vs The Post Office.

Encouraging the Keir Starmer-led Labour administration to expedite the distribution of promised compensations to the affected ex-postal workers, ITV chief Kevin Lygo stated: ‘Swiftly deliver the owed payments to these individuals.’

As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share an exciting moment from my recent experience: The evening commenced with me, standing on stage, graciously accepting the award for Best Actress. This honor came as a result of my captivating portrayal of Martha, the relentless stalker, in Richard Gatt’s critically acclaimed Netflix drama titled Baby Reindeer.

After accidentally slipping several expletives during his acceptance speech for Best Male Performance in a Comedy, Danny Dyer compelled the BBC to make swift revisions.

In a thrilling turn of events, the 47-year-old actor clinched his initial BAFTA award for his portrayal of Lee in Mr. Bigstuff. Overwhelmed by his triumph, he delivered a characteristically colorful and passionate acceptance speech.

Initially exclaiming, “Goodness gracious, I’m emotional,” the EastEnders actor subsequently posted a touching and amusing tribute to Mr. Bigstuff writer and fellow star Ryan Sampson, causing him to use colorful language again.

Danny mentioned: “However, I’d like to dedicate this to Ryan Sampson. One of the standout individuals from Rotherham. Not implying it’s a particularly impressive place.

Without a doubt, one of the most versatile actors our nation has ever nurtured. You won’t find anyone who has shown such diversity in their performances, and that’s a claim I can’t make about many others.

He composed this section especially for me, which makes me emotional once more. You see, your effort here has earned me something special, mate. I truly value it, and I can’t thank you enough.

He concluded by turning towards his two daughters, Dani, aged 28, and Sunnie, 18, who were in the audience. Taking the chance to say a final goodbye, he declared with a mix of emotion and relief: ‘My girls, Sunnie and Dani, I’ve accomplished it – I’ve truly achieved it!’

Nevertheless, the BBC expressed disapproval when the celebrity breached the broadcasting limit, leading to the host, Alan, having to issue an apology for the inappropriate language he used.

When the broadcast aired an hour later, the presenter carefully edited Danny’s speech, removing all profanities.

Later on, Alan unintentionally used an expletive during his presentation when he bestowed the esteemed BAFTA Fellowship upon journalist Kirsty Wark.

In a regrettable slip-up, the renowned Scottish actor inadvertently referred to the award as the ‘dreadful fellowship.’ Realizing his mistake, he embarrassedly blurted out another expletive, apologetically saying: “Oh dear me!

The Fellowship is the most prestigious award given by BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) to a single person, honoring them for extraordinary and exceptional achievements in filmmaking, video games, or television production.

Kirsty was recognized for her steadfast commitment and remarkable career in the realm of news and current events television.

On that memorable evening, Ruth Jones graciously received the accolade for Best Female Comedic Performance. This recognition came following her last portrayal of the beloved character, Nessa, in the December finale of Gavin & Stacey.

Receiving the award from Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall, she expressed her surprise and gratitude, acknowledging the exceptional talents of her fellow cast members.

A big heartfelt gratitude goes out to the BBC. It’s truly an exceptional organization that I feel privileged to have collaborated with on numerous occasions.

Addressing her writing companion, Ruth expressed gratitude by saying: ‘I owe the most heartfelt thanks to my dearest, generous and gifted friend James Corden. Over the past 17 years, we’ve embarked on an incredible journey together, and it’s safe to say that without his presence, Vanessa Shanessa Jenson would not have come into being.’

She subtly suggested a possible future TV collaboration with James by saying: “Jim, I really enjoy writing with you. Here’s to many more projects together!

Despite facing a loss in the P&O Cruises Memorable Moment category, the show was outshone by Chris McCausland’s Strictly Come Dancing waltz and Dianne Buswell’s moment, as they won over Smithy’s wedding scene.

At the grand event, British actress Marisa Abela took home one of the evening’s most prestigious prizes – the award for Outstanding Lead Actress – due to her remarkable performance as the lead in the popular BBC series, Industry.

Accepting her award, the emotional actress expressed: “For approximately six years, I’ve been working on Industry, and it’s amazing beyond belief that Bad Wolf Productions and HBO allowed us to continue past season one.

In addition, she mentioned that she secured a part in the BBC series focusing on a group of young finance graduates during her initial year at drama school. Furthermore, she expressed that the role of Yasmin significantly impacted her life, as it led her to portray the late Amy Winehouse in the movie “Back To Black.

In the Leading Actor category, it was David Tennant from the series “Rivals” who was a strong contender for the award but ultimately fell short to Lennie James, recognized for his performance in “Mr Loverman” on BBC.

A shocked Lennie admitted he hadn’t prepared a speech, as he ‘didn’t think this was coming my way’.

During the evening, Mr Loverman received his second award, while Lennie’s fellow actor, Ariyon Bakare, had won the Supporting Actor trophy earlier in the event. His acceptance speech, filled with emotion, left a significant impact on many spectators.

The amusing talk-show “Would I Lie To You” by BBC earned the title of Best Entertainment Programme, thanks to the hilarious exchanges between hosts Lee Mack, Rob Brydon, and David Mitchell, which left viewers in stitches.

David stated: ‘Eight times we’ve been nominated, but this is our first victory. Last year, they discontinued the category we were up for, and we assumed we’d be nominated in the news or perhaps a brief drama about something related to Prince Andrew next time.’

Alongside Robert Rinder and Rylan Clark, their BBC series “Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour” was honored as the victor in the category of Factual Entertainment awards.

In a surprising turn of events, I’ve managed to outshine some of the UK’s most beloved entertainers by clinching the Entertainment Performance award for my Channel 4 show, Late Night Lycett. Names like Stacey Solomon, Romesh Ranganathan, Claudia Winkleman, Graham Norton, Ant McPartlin, and Declan Donnelly were all in contention, but it seems the judges found something particularly captivating about my performance this year.

33 years after its debut, Glastonbury finally received its first Television BAFTA award. This recognition was given for the comprehensive live coverage of the event held at Somerset’s Worthy Farm by BBC.

EastEnders joined the fun too, winning the honor of Best Soap as they mark their significant 40th anniversary on the air.

Broadcasting titan BBC Breakfast clinched a new award (TV BAFTA) for the first time, thanks to their exceptional work in the Post Office Special, which earned them this recognition.

The lavish event featured captivating music performances by pop sensations Jessie J and Tom Grennan, with Jessie J making her return to television stages after a six-year absence.

Notably, esteemed violinist Esther Abrami, known for her captivating performances on social media, played “Apple Tree” at the In Memoriam tribute dedicated to the departed television personalities of this year.
