Marvel has released a new TV show featuring two characters with superpowers. The show reveals the superhero costumes of these new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU is well-known for faithfully recreating the heroes’ costumes from the comic books, and while it sometimes takes a while, most characters eventually appear with their classic looks.
The trailers for Avengers: Doomsday have hinted at the introduction of new characters, giving fans first glimpses of updated costumes for heroes like Namor, Black Panther, Cyclops, Professor X, and Magneto. The movie, set to release in 2026, continues this pattern by not only introducing two new superheroes, but also immediately showcasing their most recognizable looks.
Marvel’s New TV Show Debuts Two Superhero Suits
Be warned – this article reveals plot details from Marvel’s Wonder Man. The entire first season of Wonder Man – all 8 episodes – is now streaming on Disney+. This isn’t a typical Marvel superhero show. Instead of focusing on large-scale battles or events that impact the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wonder Man tells the story of Simon Williams and his pursuit of a career as a famous actor.
Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man, is a character getting a movie remake, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II played him in a Marvel series that deeply resonated with the actor since childhood. By the series’ conclusion, his character finally wears the iconic, comic book-inspired Wonder Man suit. Throughout the series, Simon is seen in a signature look: a sleeveless leather suit featuring a bold red ‘W’ on the chest.
A pair of red sunglasses completes the look. Simon Williams isn’t the only Marvel hero to sport a superhero suit in Wonder Man. We previously saw DeMarr Davis, played by Byron Bowers and known as Doorman, wearing the suit in an earlier MCU TV show. The Doorman costume in the MCU features black clothing, including a leather jacket, and a black mask with white, diamond-shaped eyeholes.
How Do Wonder Man And Doorman’s MCU Suits Compare To Marvel Comics?
The Wonder Man costume in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is inspired by the comic book version, but there are some key differences. Notably, the MCU suit lacks the red bands seen on Simon Williams’ arms in the comics. The material also differs – the MCU suit appears to be made of leather, while the comic book version is a tighter, spandex-like material. Finally, Wonder Man’s red gloves have been changed to mostly silver in the live-action series.
The Doorman costume in the MCU appears quite simple, which makes sense considering it’s a prop worn by Demarr in the fictional movie Cash Grab. The comic book version of Doorman has a much more visually impressive suit—a black bodysuit with a long white cape, gloves, and boots. Wonder Man, on the other hand, has two MCU costumes that are memorable, but updated for a contemporary look.
