Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner Will Star in 3 DCU Projects by 2026!
DC Studios has a variety of superheroes from their Chapter 1 lineup, with one character appearing in no less than three different projects within a single year. The roster for the DC Universe is taking shape, with several key members of the Justice League already cast. This includes Superman (David Corenswet), Supergirl (Milly Alcock), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan), Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), and three Green Lanterns: Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, and Nathan Fillion.
This Green Lantern Will Appear in 3 New DCU Projects
Before viewers get acquainted with John Stewart, Hal Jordan, and other members of the Green Lantern Corps in HBO’s “Lanterns”, a character named Guy Gardner will be introduced first. Known as the rowdy member of the emerald intergalactic police force, Gardner will be portrayed by actor Nathan Fillion, who has previously appeared in shows like “The Rookie”, “Firefly”, and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”.

It’s confirmed that Fillion will portray the Green Lantern superhero in a total of three DC Universe projects, all set for release within a single year.
Superman
On July 11, DCU will premiere its first major film featuring Superman, starring David Corenswet as the fresh take on Clark Kent. The new iteration of Superman enters a universe that’s already teeming with superheroes, including the newly formed Justice League, headed by Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner.
As an ardent admirer, I’m excited to share that Gardner is renowned for sporting a notoriously bad hairdo reminiscent of a bowl in the DC universe. With this distinctive style and his characteristic flaws, he’s set to join the cast of Superman, adding an intriguing twist to the storyline!
Just like Superman provides hope for wandering heroes, it appears that Gardner may initially act as a foe towards Clark Kent. However, there’s a possibility that they could eventually join forces to confront the formidable challenge of Lex Luthor.
Peacemaker Season 2
In the trailer for Season 2 of “Peacemaker,” Guy Gardner unexpectedly showed up alongside Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord. This unexpected appearance hints at the potential outcomes for the Justice League in July’s “Superman,” effectively revealing their possible destiny.
It appears that Green Lantern and Hawkgirl are aiding their Justice League benefactor, Maxwell Lord, as he seeks to enlist fresh superheroes for the team. Notably, John Cena’s Peacemaker is showing interest in joining following his valiant acts during Season 1.
It remains uncertain whether Gardner’s appearance in “Peacemaker” will just be a brief appearance during the Justice Gang auditions or if his character will appear multiple times throughout the eagerly awaited series, scheduled to launch on Max on August 21.
Lanterns
The upcoming HBO series titled “Lanterns” will feature Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre portraying Hal Jordan and John Stewart, respectively. This eight-episode show draws inspiration from “True Detective”, with these characters delving into a murder mystery set in the heart of America.
Earlier, James Gunn hinted that the HBO series would feature some additional Lantern characters. Now that the show is being produced, it has been officially announced that Nathan Fillion will once again play Guy Gardner in the series titled “Lanterns.
It’s uncertain how many episodes of the HBO series “Lanterns” will include Gardner, and there hasn’t been a specific release date announced yet. However, DC Studios has told Deadline that they can confidently say that “Lanterns” is expected to premiere in early 2026.
By the time “Lanterns” arrives, fans will have grown familiar with Guy Gardner as one of DCU’s frequently returning characters, having made three appearances previously. However, the extent of his roles in these projects remains uncertain, suggesting that his part in “Peacemaker” may be limited to a brief appearance alongside Maxwell Lord and Hawkgirl.
It appears challenging to predict when the Green Lantern superhero will surface again, given how his cameo in Peacemaker Season 2 took viewers by surprise upon the trailer’s release.
The Recurring Characters of the DCU Explained
In a different wording: Rick Flag Sr., portrayed by Frank Grillo, isn’t just one of the recurring characters in the DC Universe; he will essentially take on the role previously held by Nick Fury, serving as James Gunn’s counterpart. This DC Universe spy first appeared in Creature Commandos and is set to reappear in Superman , before his appearance in Peacemaker Season 2. In this next chapter, he will be seen as the director of ARGUS.
To clarify, Isabela Merced’s portrayal of Hawkgirl will be seen in two different projects alongside Superman and Peacemaker during Season 2.
It has been widely discussed that David Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman could potentially lead him to appear in two films, given his role in “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” scheduled for a June 2026 release. This film will introduce Milly Alcock as his Kryptonian relative on screen.
Over time, it’s expected that the DCU (DC Universe) will add more recurring characters to its roster through additional crossovers and unexpected appearances. Fans are eagerly anticipating this development might culminate in a grand crossover event similar to the Avengers, where characters and storylines converge in a Justice League movie (for further details on the prospective reboot team-up).
