In a twist that left some viewers feeling puzzled, the final episode of Ghosts might have stirred up a bit of confusion, as Asher Grodman suggested. This was due to Jay striking a bargain with Elias, which can be likened to dealing with the devil. However, the episode concluded on an uplifting note, as Pete and Alberta shared a romantic kiss! Indeed, after numerous seasons showcasing Richie Moriarty’s character’s unrequited feelings and Danielle Pinnock’s character potentially developing affection for him, they finally acted upon their emotions.

At present, there’s curiosity about what happens to these two spirits next. The creators of this humorous series are sharing insights on why they concluded Season 4 with a romantic scene between Pete and Alberta, and the implications it holds for future plotlines.

Why Season 4 Of Ghosts Ended With Pete And Alberta Kissing

For some time, Pete has longed for Alberta, but then he found himself with a girlfriend after discovering his ability to transcend boundaries. Recently, in the latest season of the 2025 TV schedule, Alberta admitted she had been suppressing her feelings for Pete, and it seems their timing couldn’t have been worse.

Yet, upon hearing Alberta’s confession, Pete swiftly ended things with Donna and admitted his own feelings (avoiding a face-palm from Alberta). This significant event marked the end of the season, and TV Line got some insights from showrunner Joe Wiseman about this decision.

Indeed, this is a significant turning point in the show. Ever since Season 1, Pete has been showing his feelings for her, and we’ve been gradually moving towards this moment, softening Alberta’s resistance bit by bit. It seemed appropriate to make this move now. It felt like it was time to bring them together.

For quite some time now, we’ve been yearning for something, and it’s taken us through periods of longing for the past four years. However, this year, there was a shift in the current, and Alberta discovered that she harbored feelings for Pete.

As a devoted cinephile, I’ve been eagerly anticipating this moment for quite some time. And now, showrunner Joe Port has confirmed that the timing was perfect for these two characters to finally align their paths. So here we are, sharing the same screen, and it’s nothing short of exhilarating as we approach the season finale.

From my perspective, there were instances when I sensed their attraction and indifference, but eventually, we discovered an opening where their hearts seemed receptive to affection and potential. I’m thrilled about delving into the intricate dance of their relationship dynamics.

In essence, the final scene was a delightful suspenseful ending to wrap up the season, given that it contrasts with the more dangerous situation involving Jay and Elias. It leaves us pondering about Pete and Alberta’s relationship and how their romance might evolve within the house. Clearly, since they’re both in the same location, a lot is at stake for what happens next between them.

Why There’s ‘A Lot Riding’ On Pete And Alberta’s Relationship Going Into Season 5

This relationship carries significant weight, as Port elaborated. When queried about what sets Pete and Alberta’s romance apart from other in-house romances such as Flower and Thor or Isaac and Nigel, he pointed out that their romantic pasts are tumultuous, making the situation quite intense for them. Furthermore, they’re both confined to the same house for all eternity, as he put it.

For these two individuals, the risks are significant due to their past traumatic romantic experiences. Consequently, trusting each other enough to move forward jointly is no easy feat, as their futures could be heavily influenced if things don’t work out. With only one exit (Pete can leave), they essentially find themselves bound together, making the outcome crucial.

Unless one of them mysteriously vanishes or moves on prematurely, these two spirits seem inextricably bound where they are. Pete, for instance, cannot remain away for extended periods without disappearing, so he’s forced to return. Given their youth and strong ties to the living, it seems unlikely that either will pass on soon. Consequently, if this romantic relationship falters, they may find themselves unable to separate.

As a dedicated film enthusiast, I can’t help but express my hope that both Pete and Alberta, who’ve each faced their own romantic woes, find themselves in a vibrant and fulfilling love story. Fingers crossed that this is the beginning of an enchanting journey for them, but we’ll just have to see how it unfolds. Luckily, our favorite series, “Ghosts,” is set to return next fall for Season 5, so we won’t have too long to wait and witness the blossoming of their friendship into something truly extraordinary.
