In the bustling cityscape of New York City, 1959 serves as the backdrop for the film titled “The Bookie & The Bruiser“. This story will feature James portraying a thoughtful Jewish individual named Rivner, with Vince Vaughn essaying the role of Boscolo, an Italian-American character.

After serving in World War II, they come back transformed individuals who can no longer adjust to their previous routines.

Instead of following commands or adhering to social norms, these two individuals form an alliance: one becoming a bookmaker, the other acting as an enforcer in their clandestine gambling business. This venture, though financially rewarding, is fraught with risk and peril.

As a follower, I was cheering them on, watching their business prosper, until they found themselves entangled in a brutal power clash between the Mafia and an Irish gang. This unexpected confrontation thrust them headlong into a battle for survival, one that turned violent.

Most recently, James was seen on the silver screen in the horror film “The Monkey,” which was both written and directed by Osgood Perkins. This movie is an adaptation of a short story by Stephen King with the same title.

The film chronicles the story of twins Hal and Bill, portrayed by James, reuniting to combat the menace of a haunted doll they encountered in their past.

In a conversation with Digital Spy prior to the movie’s February premiere, James mentioned that while he enjoyed portraying both characters because they were “completely distinct personas,” there were also certain difficulties associated with it.

Hal is rather introspective, somewhat damaged, yet he serves as the ethical core of the movie. On the other hand, Bill appears to be a child stuck in an adult’s body, which leads to his utter insanity, according to his explanation.

We took Oz and me as far as we dared, particularly focusing on Bill. Our aim was to make him experience a mix of amusement, yet also a hint of toxicity and madness.

It’s peculiar to act against your own interests because you aren’t doing it in the moment. Therefore, you need to strategize and have an idea of how you want to proceed, but not so much that it ruins the authenticity of the scene. You should consider the likely outcome before you take action.
