Danny Dyer Blasts EastEnders: Scripts Are ‘St’, Co-Stars Are ‘Cs’

Danny Dyer has openly expressed his genuine thoughts about EastEnders, as he lashed out at the plotlines, producers, and his past colleagues during an expletive-laden tirade.

At my peak performance, I was bringing home an impressive £250,000 annually. However, my dramatic departure from the series took place on Christmas Day 2022, marking a significant turning point in my professional journey.

Regarding his experience on the soap, Danny openly criticized the heavy workload during a charity event at Wimbledon Club last Friday. He admitted that he had become severely stressed due to his usage of prescribed medications, which led him to seek treatment in rehabilitation centers not once, but twice, as a result of the show.

Danny publicly referred to his co-stars Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie in a bold manner, using an offensive term, alleging that they had ignored him and his on-screen partner Kellie Bright.

Reflecting back on when I joined the cast of Rivals in 2013, let me tell you, it wasn’t exactly a friendly atmosphere. The set felt like an exclusive club, quite cliquish to be working in.

Danny additionally criticized the narrative arcs within the soap opera, especially Mick’s romantic entanglement with Janine Butcher, expressing his viewpoint that “much of it is nonsense.

Apart from expressing dissatisfaction with the outcome of his character, he also strongly objected to the choice to end Lola Pearce’s life due to a brain tumor last year, referring to it as an unfortunate use of Danielle Harold’s acting skills.

Besides asserting that he criticized the BBC for failing to provide adequate care to the cast, he also stated that they refused to grant actors time off to attend a relative’s funeral, accusations which the BBC has refuted.

In simpler terms, Danny, who earned roughly £250,000 annually from his soap role, expressed that while the pay was satisfactory, the actors had little personal life and argued that the intense storylines negatively affected many people’s mental health. He went on to label them as ‘unconventional individuals’.

‘You earn good money, but you ain’t got time to go to a cashpoint, you have no life,’ he said.

Additionally, he asserted that supervisors contaminated the beer barrels at the Queen Vic, purposely adding disinfectant to discourage him from consuming from them.

Regarding Danny’s remarks, a representative from EastEnders replied: “We never disclose personal matters, but we find the allegations unrecognizable.

On EastEnders, there are very strong and long-standing protection measures set up to ensure the well-being of every cast and crew member.

For nine years, Danny portrayed Mick, the landlord of Queen Victoria, in the BBC soap opera. However, his character met an exciting but tragic end during the Christmas season of 2022, when he was involved in a high-speed car chase on a cliffside, leading to his presumed demise as his body was not found afterwards.

Looking back at his departure from the series, he once confessed that he grew dissatisfied with his character and felt as though Mick had strayed from his original path.

In 2013, his character entered the series alongside his wife Linda (played by Kellie), as well as their kids.

However, following their early relationship, circumstances would eventually shift, leading to the teenage lovers separating. Later on, Mick tied the knot with Janine, who was portrayed by Charlie Brooks in the series.
