Rogue Execute suspended, coach Trick subs in for final LEC match

In the League of Legends team Rogue, their main player has been suspended for one game. As a result, the assistant coach Trick stepped in and took over.

In simpler terms, League of Legends player Lee “Execute” Jeong-hoon, formerly known as JeongHoon, has been subjected to a competitive penalty by Riot Games. This ruling disqualifies him from participating in Rogue’s last match during the LEC Spring 2025 season. Learn about Execute’s suspension here.

Why did Execute get a suspension from Riot Games?

The decision made was based on “unfair play” since Rogue disclosed, which stemmed from a chat message Execute transmitted during a multiplayer game lobby.

Dawid “Melonik” Ślęczka, the top-laner for Polish team Forsaken, shared a screenshot publicly about an issue. He accompanied it with the caption “No worries (thumbs up emoji)” and included a picture of Execute wearing a Rogue jersey.

As depicted, the Neeko character is actively playing, as indicated by several solo queue monitoring platforms such as DPM.lol. During this session, he communicated with his team, saying “take your life” and following up with “please,” before eventually muting himself within the game.

Back on April 24th, 2025, I myself wanted to make it clear that I wasn’t participating in the game in question.

Upon reviewing the previous League of Legends matches on this account from Execute, we discovered the match that corresponds to the day when the tweet was posted.

For his behavior, Riot Games slapped a one-match suspension on Execute.

Execute apologizes, Trick subs in

The professional support player took to X to apologize and accept his suspension.

He attributed the use of the phrase to a language difference, explaining that there’s a comparable expression in Korean which translates to “let them handle their own affairs,” and he never meant to convey an offensive message. However, he later apologized for any misunderstanding and promised to learn from this experience and grow.

In the LEC Spring 2025 season, Rogue only has one more best-of-three match left. Though there’s technically a chance for them to make the playoffs, their current position in 10th place effectively makes it highly unlikely.

In their final series, Rogue will face off against Movistar KOI, currently ranked as the top third team in the region. Rogue announced via their social media platforms that their assistant coach, Kim “Trick” Gang-yun, will step up to take part in this match.

Throughout his competitive career, Trick primarily specialized as a jungler, representing multiple teams across South Korea and Europe. In 2014, he was on the CJ Entus roster, while he played for G2 Esports from 2016 to 2017.

It remains uncertain which role Trick will assume in the upcoming match; speculation suggests he might return to jungling, with Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong potentially shifting to a support position. However, it won’t be clear until the day of the match itself.
