Doctor Odyssey’s Fate Is Still Unknown Heading Into Season Finale, And I’m Starting To Worry About The Fate Of One Character
Be warned! This tale delves into the events of “Doctor Odyssey”‘s May 8 episode, titled “The Wave.” If you haven’t seen it yet and wish to watch, you can stream it with a Hulu subscription.
I tried to maintain the original meaning while making the sentence more conversational and easier to read.
The final episode of Doctor Odyssey is just around the corner in less than a week, as per the 2025 TV schedule. After an exciting premiere that saw the fictional cruise ship encounter sharks, tsunamis, and rowdy spring breakers, there’s no definitive news yet from ABC about whether the Ryan Murphy series will continue its journey. Following the near-conclusion of this season, I can’t help but ponder over the potential outcome for Dr. Max Bankman.
Why I’m Worried Doctor Odyssey Might Kill Off Max
In “The Wave”, Dr. Odyssey found Max (Joshua Jackson) in a perilous predicament – abandoned on land assisting others, as The Odyssey navigated deeper waters to evade tsunami waves. Despite the ongoing danger posed by aftershocks, Captain Massey (Don Johnson) decided to disregard protocol and return for the ship’s doctor. The rescue operation will carry on in the second half of the two-part finale, as hinted at in the trailer.
Although Avery (Phillipa Soo) claims she’s not in love with Max, her actions suggest otherwise. She appears to be spearheading the search for him, and the trailer concludes with her scouring a church – the same place where we last spotted him before exclaiming, “Max?
Upon laying eyes on this, my initial reaction was, “Could they honestly make us think they’d kill Max off?” Yet, it crossed my mind almost instantly that maybe that’s the very thing that will occur. Consider this: Ryan Murphy has shown he’s not hesitant to take out main characters, as demonstrated by the surprising death on 9-1-1. Additionally, Doctor Odyssey hasn’t been renewed or canceled by ABC yet.
What if this is all part of a bigger plan?
What’s Been Said About Doctor Odyssey Season 2?
Show “Doctor Odyssey” continues to be among ABC’s few series lingering in limbo, with additional renewals announced last Friday. Previously, network executive Craig Erwich mentioned that they are following the example set by Ryan Murphy and engaging in ongoing creative discussions.
But suppose the decision regarding Joshua Jackson’s character has already been settled? Could it be possible that the creators are intentionally keeping quiet about it, as they don’t wish to reveal the show’s ending prematurely?
It seems you’re feeling a bit disoriented, but let me clarify that my current perspective isn’t any more unbelievable than the notion known as the “fever dream theory,” which posits that everything we experience might not be real at all. In this theory, Max, also recognized as COVID’s Patient Zero, is believed to never have fully recovered from the coronavirus and remains in a coma.
It’s quite thrilling too, but it feels like we’re in an era of television where no one is invincible, and this appears particularly relevant for a show whose future isn’t decided yet.
