Where’s Amanda Waller? ‘Peacemaker’ S2 Trailer Leaves Fans Wondering

2025 marks a significant milestone for the DC Universe, with more than just the July release of James Gunn’s Superman movie on the big screen. A month later, Peacemaker Season 2 is set to debut on our TV schedules, transitioning from its initial DCEU roots to become part of this new continuity. The first trailer for the new season has been unveiled, featuring intriguing appearances by Nathan Fillion as Guy Garner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord. However, one question lingers in my mind regarding Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller: where can we find her after the conclusion of Creature Commandos Season 1?

In summary, due to “The Suicide Squad” being loosely linked to the DC Universe as it was created by James Gunn, Viola Davis, similar to John Cena, continues to appear in the DCEU. You might have heard her voice as Amanda Waller in “Creature Commandos” Season 1, and the “Waller” TV series was one of the initial projects announced in the DC Universe. Additionally, she made two unaccredited appearances in “Peacemaker” Season 1 during the DCEU period. However, it appears that she may not be featured in Season 2 if a statement from John Economos is any indication.

A.R.G.U.S. has been monitoring Peacemaker ever since Rick Flag Sr. was named director.

It’s been previously announced that Frank Grillo will join “Peacemaker” Season 2, making it his third role within this universe following “Creature Commandos” (which is set for another season) and Superman in two months’ time. Given the events of “The Suicide Squad”, where Peacemaker/Christopher Smith was responsible for his son’s death, it seems fitting to introduce Rick Flag Sr. into the upcoming DC series. However, what surprised me was learning that Sr. now heads A.R.G.U.S.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I can’t help but ponder over the intriguing narrative shift between Peacemaker Season 1 and Creature Commandos. In the final episode of Peacemaker, Leota Adebayo unveiled to the world the existence of Task Force X and Project Butterfly, revealing her mother, Amanda Waller, as their commander. Yet, when Creature Commandos unfolded, Waller was still in charge at A.R.G.U.S., albeit with Task Force X disbanded due to its reckless endangerment of human lives. Instead, she utilized monstrous beings for her new Task Force M. The question that arises is: what transpired between these events that led to Rick Flag Sr. assuming the leadership role at A.R.G.U.S.?

Individuals who’ve watched “Peacemaker” might presume that this plot development is a result of Leota revealing secrets on TV, but I’m curious if Amanda Waller’s departure is linked to the almost-fulfillment of Princess Ilana Rostovic’s world domination plans in the “Creature Commandos” series. It’s possible that following the establishment of the new Task Force M, her superiors deemed it appropriate for her to step down.

Could Rick Flag Sr.’s promotion have something to do with Amanda Waller’s change in status, or is there some other explanation? This raises the question of where Amanda Waller might be now. Is she still at A.R.G.U.S., possibly holding a lower position? Or has she found a new role within the U.S. government? It’s also possible that recent events have forced her into hiding. Perhaps the mystery of her whereabouts will be addressed in Peacemaker Season 2, but it doesn’t necessarily mean Viola Davis will reprise her role.

I’m optimistic that the events involving Amanda Waller will pave the way for the upcoming “Waller” TV series, as confirmed by James Gunn earlier this year (through Variety). The project has faced some challenges, but it’s now been reimagined to follow the second season of “Peacemaker.” So, we’ll simply have to be patient and find out how things develop in the upcoming episodes of “Peacemaker,” set to air from August 21 onwards.
