Is The Chase Australia Facing the Axe Due to Ratings Plummet?

Rumours are swirling that a popular Channel Seven show is facing the axe amid dwindling ratings.

The popular game show, The Chase Australia, is reported to be on the chopping block.

As reported by News Corp, it appears they are actively seeking a new occupant for the slot that the program has filled on Seven since 2015.

It seems that the change in opinions about the Larry Emdur-hosted game show might be due to disappointing viewership numbers, as it hasn’t been successful in securing its 5pm time slot.

For quite some time now, our long-standing series has been outperformed by a game show on Channel Nine, titled Tipping Point, that’s hosted by Todd Woodbridge and airs simultaneously.

This week’s TV ratings reveal that The Chase trails Tipping Point daily, although the difference is quite narrow.

On Thursdays, The Chase drew in 1,315,000 viewers, whereas Tipping Point managed to pull in an additional 188,000 viewers, totaling 1,503,000 spectators.

For the remainder of the week, The Chase consistently followed a comparable pattern, with its highest viewership on Monday, reaching 1,476,000. However, it was 58,000 viewers short of Tipping Point’s numbers.

According to the report, there’s a sense of alarm in the higher-ups at Channel Seven regarding the ratings outcomes. The choice whether to cancel or keep a show is now in the hands of Angus Ross, who has recently taken on the role as Group Managing Director of Television at Channel Seven.

Nevertheless, these assertions contradict Seven’s recent dismissal of News Corp’s speculation about replacing Larry as the host of The Chase, with the intention of rejuvenating the program.

A representative from Seven stated to the publication back in April that ‘The Chase’ doesn’t require renewal or improvement. It consistently performs exceptionally well during its designated timeframe, drawing a large number of viewers each night.’

‘We are about to launch a new push for the show, offering the biggest cash prize in its history.

It’s certain that Larry will keep on hosting The Chase; any idea to the contrary is illogical and intentionally deceiving.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Channel Seven for comment.

As an over-the-moon devotee, I can’t help but share the latest buzz that’s been swirling around the internet this week! It seems our beloved Larry Emdur, the ever-charming host we all adore, playfully shared a tantalizing post on social media. In it, he claimed an elderly woman had generously offered him a ten-dollar bill – quite a fortune for us common folk, I daresay – with the condition that he’d lower his pants. Now, isn’t that just the kind of juicy tidbit we fans live for?

As an overly enthusiastic admirer, I can’t help but share this intriguing tale that unfolded one crisp morning. While our beloved 59-year-old television personality from Channel Seven was gracefully strolling through a local park, something unexpected happened!

Larry mentioned that the stranger proposed giving him money in exchange for a glimpse at his lower back, where it’s adorned with the initials of last year’s Gold Logie nominees’ names.

The widely-adored individual, known for playfully showcasing his celebrity status on social media platforms, got a tattoo on his lower back during an on-air appearance on The Morning Show, just one day after winning the prestigious television award.

In the video, Larry appears explaining to his audience that he successfully frightened a woman away – but then unexpectedly shows them a ten-dollar bill he’s holding instead.

Good morning. Here’s an unusual incident that occurred during my morning stroll, as shared on his Instagram post.

He added, “As I walked along, a woman around 75-80 years old approached me. It seemed as if I were just another character in her television show.

She then faced me and asked, “Would you exhibit the tattoo of the Gold Logie on your lower back for $10?” To which I responded: (Depending on context)

* “I’d be happy to show it to you, here you go!”
* “Sure thing! Let me get it for you.”
* “Alright, let me show you.”
* “I can do that. Here you go.”
* “Of course! Here you are.

Larry then explained that the woman repeated her request.

‘And I said, ”You’re crazy” – you want me to drop my pants in a public park for $10?

Apparently, she was frightened and left in that direction,” Larry explained, gesturing with a ten-dollar bill.

Larry’s followers quickly showed their enthusiastic approval for his joke post.

‘Thank goodness you took the money!!’ one fan messaged.

‘This is GOLD,’ added another, while a third follower simply gushed, ‘Totally hilarious as always.’

Last August, Larry grabbed attention as he won his first-ever Logie Awards. He collected a Silver award and later bagged the Gold during the 2024 ceremony held at The Star in Sydney.

The following day, he found himself compelled to honor an odd vow from the previous week, exposing himself by removing his trousers on live morning television and receiving a tattoo on his lower back.
