Subway Surfers celebrates its 13th Anniversary on May 12, introducing the 200th City, special events and new characters

SYBO Games is preparing to mark the 13th anniversary of their popular arcade endless runner game, Subway Surfers, with a unique in-game celebration. On May 12, 2025, this event will debut, featuring Copenhagen as its 200th city. During the event, players will have the opportunity to unlock and dash through various cities on a daily basis.

Subway Surfers turns 13 this year, with a new city and various surprises

On May 12, 2025, Subway Surfers, one of the most renowned mobile games, will be commemorating its 13th anniversary. This popular game initially launched on May 23, 2012, and swiftly gained worldwide recognition due to its engaging gameplay, particularly when the World-Tour series debuted in 2013.

Following the addition of iconic cities such as New York, Rio, Mumbai, Bangkok, and many others, Subway Surfers has reached a significant milestone by incorporating its 200th city, Copenhagen, into its World Tour. This special occasion coincides with the game’s 13th Anniversary, as it was co-developed with Kiloo in this very city where the game originated.

From May 12th onwards, you’ll have the opportunity to traverse through 21 different cities every day, including popular destinations such as Paris, Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, and many more. You can unlock these cities by gathering World Tour suitcase tokens at designated spots, and then revisit all these existing cities along with the newly added Copenhagen.

Unlock two new characters, outfits, and boards in new events

Mathias Nørvig, the CEO of SYBO, expressed his excitement about hitting the 13-year mark and visiting 200 cities during their World Tour. He’s also eager for Subway Surfers to begin a new phase as it enters its teenage years.

Another thrilling aspect that really pumps me up is discovering the opportunity to unveil not just one but two freshly themed characters – Loc and Stevie. Additionally, you’ll find new outfits, boards, and a plethora of other prizes. It’s amazing to reflect on the fact that I last played this game as a child, and now, fully grown, I’m still eager to revisit it once more.
