EA gives a hint to the next Battlefield reveal
During the latest EA earnings conference, their CEO, Andrew Wilson, hinted that we’re nearly ready to unveil the upcoming Battlefield game.
Global gamers are eagerly anticipating several upcoming titles, one of which is the latest installment in the Battlefield series. On May 6, Electronic Arts (EA) wrapped up its annual earnings call for fiscal year 2025. During this discussion, they reviewed their earnings from the previous year. But what really piqued interest was some intriguing information disclosed about the next Battlefield game.
Battlefield shows promise
For quite some time now, Battlefield has been a familiar name among gamers. Regrettably, the most recent installment, Battlefield 2042 (BF 2042), fell short of expectations at its debut. Although updates were made throughout its nearly 3-year lifespan, many players expressed disappointment. The introduction of Specialists was met with criticism, maps were poorly designed, and it seemed to stray from its more successful predecessors – making BF 2042 feel like a letdown for many. This underwhelming experience left fans cautious as we anticipated the next game in the series.
Initially, the players were taken aback in a positive manner by the emergence of Battlefield Labs (BF Labs). Later on, it was revealed that BF Labs served as the Community Testing Environment (CTE), providing players with an advanced peek at the upcoming game title. This early access has given us a glimpse into the potential of the game, and as the BF Labs progress, more and more signed-up players worldwide are being granted entry.
A reveal looms on the horizon
During the EA earnings call on May 6th, there was a subtle suggestion about when we might expect the unveiling of the next Battlefield game. Andrew Wilson, the CEO of EA, dropped a hint in his speech.
Looking ahead, we’re optimistic about our capacity to bring multiple projects to life, starting this very summer with the unveiling of an exciting new installment in the Battlefield series. This is a significant move towards providing an outstanding lineup for our next wave of top-tier entertainment experiences.
Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts
It seemed likely that the new game title would be announced shortly, with some guessing that the Summer Game Fest on June 6 could be the perfect platform for this announcement. On the other hand, others speculate that Electronic Arts (EA) might host a separate event specifically for the reveal of Battlefield’s upcoming version.
As we chat now, it’s been confirmed that the release will happen in our gaming year 2026-27, which wraps up at the close of March 2026. In simpler terms, this means fingers crossed, we could be seeing the new game by the end of 2025. There might be a bit of leeway if any unexpected issues pop up that require our attention.
For Electronic Arts (EA), the upcoming Battlefield title is crucial as it could either cement or dismantle the entire series. With the player dissatisfaction over Battlefield 2042, the next game must be a resounding success from its debut. We’ll share more details once the reveal is made public.
