Andy Allen’s Six-Word Tribute to Jock Zonfrillo’s Widow Stuns Fans Amid Emotional Interview

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my awe for MasterChef Australia’s shining star, Lauren Zonfrillo. The way she’s carrying on the legacy of her late co-star Jock, truly is inspiring. Her strength and culinary prowess are nothing short of extraordinary!

In the year 2023, Jock, who passed away at the age of 46, was discovered in a hotel room in Melbourne. He had been a regular judge on the popular Australian cooking series MasterChef alongside Andy, starting from the year 2020 and continuing until his unfortunate demise.

On Thursday, Andy, aged 37, posted an image on Instagram displaying him with a copy of Lauren’s latest book titled “Till Death Do Us Part,” where she shares her honest experiences following Jock.

Andy praised Lauren’s candid account, offering a simple six word review.

Andy expressed admiration for @laurenzonfrillo, suggesting that his 385,000 followers should read her memoir.

After Andy recently disclosed details about his last encounter with the late Jock, he shared that he met him only a few hours prior to his demise.

7NEWS Spotlight recently held an in-person chat with Andy, aged 37, and he reminisced about having lunch with Jock the day prior to when Jock’s body was found.

He said to Liz Hayes, “My hair is prickling up just thinking about it,” referring to the last meal he shared with Jock, an experience he often recalls fondly.

Andy subsequently disclosed that he hadn’t suspected any problems during his recent encounter with the renowned chef.

He explained to Liz, while fighting back tears, “What pains me the most is that it happened so unexpectedly.

In another emotional part of the interview, Andy shared the memory when Lauren told him about Jock’s demise.

The chef immediately felt the pain of losing his dear friend, a sorrow that struck him so hard it left him suddenly sick.

‘As soon as I got off the phone, I ran straight to the bathroom and I vomited everywhere,’ he said.

Andy also shared how he still grieves his friend daily.

He often finds himself reminiscing about him. The longing is palpable; it’s immense, almost unbelievable. It seems as if the absence never fades. This was his expression of sentiment.

Regardless of where I am or what I’m doing, my memories of him remain vivid and powerful, just as intense as the day he left us two years ago.

After paying a touching homage to his deceased co-star on the second anniversary of his passing, Andy subsequently delivered an emotional, unscripted scene on camera.

More casually, you could say: Lately, he posted an old picture on social media featuring him and Jock. The caption held a mix of emotions.

‘Two years since we lost the great man, Jock Zonfrillo. I miss him more than ever,’ Andy wrote.

Last year, Andy told how it was ‘really difficult’ grieving in the public eye.

He shared with The Herald Sun that this period was the most challenging I’ve ever faced, as I hadn’t experienced such a personal tragedy before. It was all uncharted territory, and to make matters worse, it happened under public scrutiny; it was truly tough.

As an over-the-moon fan, I can’t help but share my deeply personal account of the emotional rollercoaster I experienced when I journeyed to Sicily to celebrate Jock’s special day. The memories of that full day spent in tears still linger, a poignant testament to the profound impact this moment had on me.

He told us that he spent an entire day with periods of weeping, each lasting about two hours. He described it as a series of prolonged, heartfelt cries, followed by brief moments of silence, and then more crying.

On May 1, 2023, around 2 am, Jock was tragically discovered deceased at the Zagame’s House hotel located in Carlton, which is close to Melbourne’s central business district.

During that period, his wife Lauren was in Italy accompanied by their two kids, and she reached out to Victoria Police for a wellness check as he had been unresponsive to her phone calls.

Jock’s passing occurred a day prior to the scheduled start of MasterChef’s 2023 season, causing a one-week delay in its broadcast as a mark of tribute.
