The Mission Possible May 7 patch for CS2 is now live.

On May 7, a minor update for CS2, named “Mission Possible,” was released. This update includes the debut of five freshly created community-designed maps, a revised weekly mission structure, and additional features!

New CS2 Weekly Missions reward XP, help contribute to weekly drops and Armory Pass

Today, we are introducing a fresh set of “Weekly Tasks” into the system. Completing these tasks in CS2 each week will earn you Experience Points (XP), helping to advance your account levels and secure weekly rewards.

Besides its primary purpose, the XP (Experience Points) can also help you finish unclaimed Armory Passes. The tasks in these passes may take players beyond their familiar territory, as they involve playing on specific maps for rounds or competitive victories. Notably, these missions emphasize discovering the latest community-created maps.

You’ll receive only one task per week; upon completion, you’ll have to wait for the weekly reset to get another.

CS2 community maps refreshed; five new maps including Agency remake

In addition to what we’ve already shared in today’s update, five “novel” community maps will be added to CS2. The classic map, Agency, which has long been cherished by fans, is now available in CS2. It’s been given a new look, with an updated interior office building design.

Here are four freshly crafted maps by the community that will soon be added to the competitive playlist. These include Grail, with its enchanting castle setting and fantasy park theme, along with Jura, inspired by a Jurassic castle in Poland. Both of these will join Agency, all designed for thrilling five-versus-five gameplay.

Inside a factory, there’s a brewery mapped out indoors, while Dogtown offers a dockside carnival setting with an interactive Ferris wheel, both designed for intimate Wingman matches involving only two players each.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that some beloved community maps like Basalt, Edin, Palais, and Whistle have been taken out for now in CS2. But don’t worry! These favorite maps may return to the rotation as the community map pool gets refreshed.

It’s surprising that we haven’t added Cache to our system just yet, given that it was reportedly completed last week. It could be that they are waiting to implement it after the Austin Major; we can only speculate about their plans!

Weekly Missions

  • Added Weekly Missions.
    • These are accessible via the main menu or play menu.
  • Players receive one mission each week.
  • The weekly mission expires after seven days and rewards XP for completion.

Maps

  • Removed community maps Basalt, Edin, Palais, and Whistle from all game modes.
  • Added community maps Jura, Grail, and Agency to Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes.
  • Added community maps Dogtown and Brewery to Wingman mode.
  • Re-organized Casual and Deathmatch map groups.
    • Defusal Group Alpha: Dust 2, Mirage, Inferno, Vertigo.
    • Defusal Group Delta: Train, Anubis, Ancient, Overpass, Nuke.
    • Community Map Group: Jura, Grail, Agency.
    • Hostage Group: Office, Italy.

Audio

  • Added “Main Menu Ambience Volume” setting.
  • Fixed some cases where shooting visible enemies over the top of smoke would not play an attacker feedback sound.
  • Fixed some cases where gameplay sounds were inaudible or would skip.
  • Removed snd_setmixer, snd_setmixlayer, snd_soundmixer_setmixlayer_amount, and snd_soundmixer_set_trigger_factor console commands.

Miscellaneous

  • Fixed a bug where input bindings to scancode56 (US English key “/”) wouldn’t persist across app launches.
  • Lobby invites from players marked with “Block All Communication” in Steam will now be ignored.
