Clare Hockings, a star from the show Farmer Wants a Wife, surprisingly revealed that the seemingly effortless romance she portrayed with Farmer Brad on screen was actually not as trouble-free in reality.

Clare found herself smitten by Farmer Brad Jones during the 2023 season, but admitted that she wasn’t ready for the stringent shooting requirements and limited personal liberty while filming.

She informed Yahoo Lifestyle, “I hadn’t anticipated just how much control I’d lose over my daily routines.

At certain occasions, lasting two or three days, you might find yourself frequently needing to inquire about basic needs like using the restroom, getting food, adding layers, or wearing a hat. I hadn’t anticipated such frequent requests for permission.

In a straightforward manner, the 29-year-old, currently residing with Brad in rural New South Wales and sharing their life with their little boy, shared that the actual event was much more profound compared to what was portrayed on television.

Clare remarked, “I was quite innocent. I assumed I’d help out with some light farming tasks occasionally. I never imagined I’d end up spending an entire day working with livestock; I thought it would be less intense than it turned out to be.

‘It does come across like that on TV, but it’s very structured and controlled,’ she continued. 

Regardless of their challenges, Clare and Brad stand out as one of the most successful couples to emerge from the Channel Seven franchise, adding their names to an expanding roster of pairs who discovered enduring love within its reality TV show.

In more recent times, the popular show has been under criticism due to its increasing emphasis on dramatic elements, which has led some spectators to draw parallels with Channel Nine’s Married at First Sight.

However, Clare objected to the comparisons by stating, “Based on what I’ve learned so far, I don’t believe it’s as problematic as ‘Married at First Sight’… for now.

I firmly believe that appearing on MAFS is significantly more challenging emotionally, both in terms of its intensity and difficulty. To add to that, there’s a good chance that Farmer could escalate the drama even further,” she stated.

Seemingly, some enthusiastic followers might have seen a bit more than just a joyful family moment in those images.

One charming snapshot captures the joyous pair standing beside a festive Christmas tree, accompanied by their little bundle of joy, while another image features a woman’s hand, adorned with an engagement ring, gently clutching Roy.

However, Clare was quick to quash the rumours and clarified it wasn’t her hand in the photo.

In December 2023, although they didn’t get engaged, Clare and Brad reached a significant step in their relationship as they welcomed their first baby.

They excitedly revealed the news about their newborn son, along with a beautiful picture showing their affectionate care, on Brad’s social media platform.

In this image, it seems like it was captured on Brad’s rural property. It depicts a snuggly swaddled Roy being held by his beaming father, with Clare gazing at them affectionately in the background.

‘Roy Grahame Jones has arrived,’ he captioned the precious image.
