Rod Stewart’s Son Alastair Drops Out of Fashion School to Chase Hollywood Dreams

Sir Rod Stewart recommended that his teenage son, Alastair, would be suitable for portraying a younger version of him in a hypothetical Hollywood movie based on his vibrant and lively life.

‘There’s a remarkable similarity,’ the singer remarked.

Perhaps Alastair, who’s 19 years old, might be ready for the task, given that I should mention, he left fashion school intentionally to focus on his dream career in cinema.

In the fall season, he started a three-year program focusing on fashion design, entrepreneurship, and branding at the JCA London Fashion Academy.

At the world premiere of Ocean with Sir David Attenborough, he mentioned to me that he used to go to a fashion school, but he’s not there anymore.

‘I’m in a bit of a transitional period at the moment. 

‘I’m trying to get into the film industry, and I want to follow my passion.’

Alastair, who was present at the screening held at the Royal Festival Hall in London alongside his mother Penny Lancaster (aged 54), remarked: ‘My true enthusiasm lies behind the camera.’

‘I’ve made a few short plays, I write a lot of scripts, and I write a lot of screenplays.’

80-year-old Rod’s wife, Penny, has shared insights about the challenges they face in managing a combined family with his other kids.

The artist known for “Maggie May” has eight kids, including sons Alastair and Aidan (aged 14), from his third marriage to Penny, with five different partners.

In addition to him, Rod is also father to Liam (aged 30) and Renee (aged 32), who were born during his second marriage to model Rachel Hunter (aged 55). Kimberly (aged 45) and Sean (aged 44) are children from his earlier marriage to actress Alana Stewart (aged 79).

Apart from Sarah Streeter, 61 (who was adopted by Gerald and Evelyn Thubron), he also has another daughter named Ruby, aged 37. Ruby is from a previous relationship with model Kelly Emberg, who is 65 years old. Rod’s firstborn child is Sarah Streeter.

On the Loose Women podcast, Coleen Nolan, aged 60, joined a discussion about blended families. In this conversation, Penny shared her thoughts on stepping into Rod’s life when his children Liam and Renee were young. She empathized with how challenging it likely was for them to welcome another woman into their lives after their parents’ divorce.

In reaction to a caller confessing, she had no desire for her ex-spouse to go on vacation with their children accompanied by his partner and their offspring.

Discussing her journey as a stepparent, Penny put it this way: “With five mothers involved, it’s quite a mix”, and further emphasized: “I made sure to consider how the original mother might feel whenever I interacted with Rod’s kids.

‘When Liam was merely five years old and Renee was seven, they were both still at an age where they were easily influenced. Considering the challenging situation of their parents’ divorce, it would not be surprising if their presence of another woman made things even more complex for them.’

She noted: ‘Perhaps I aimed for them to realize that dad was content. If I was the one bringing joy to dad, while he still conversed with mom and they both handled major decisions, it was essentially a delicate dance.’

Penny enjoys a fantastic bond with each member of Rod’s family, frequently vacationing as a group.
