Giorgia Longoni Studio Brings Retro Warmth to Milan’s MOGO Hi-Fi Bar

Summary

  • MOGO is a new Hi-Fi listening bar in Milan designed by Giorgia Longoni Studio
  • Hi-Fi sound systems at the DJ booth are designed H.A.N.D. Hi-Fi and Sound Metaphors.

The Milan-based design studio Giorgia Longoni Studio has been selected to bring to life the concept of a newly opened establishment called MOGO, which is a Hi-Fi listening bar situated in the bustling Isola district. The name ‘MOGO’ originates from the South African Sotho language, meaning ‘together,’ symbolizing the social and amiable atmosphere that the venue aims to create by combining dining, socializing, drinking, and high-quality music experiences all in one place.

Giorgia Longoni Studio blends cozy tones and earthy textures all around, contrasting the industrial feel of polished chrome accents and bare concrete. The heart of the space is the DJ booth, enveloped in a luxurious brown wood, housing H.A.N.D. Hi-Fi’s stainless steel speakers and Sound Metaphors design. Complementing these are another pair of speakers with a smoky burl wood finish hanging from the concrete ceiling. Terracotta reds peek out in seating cushions and saturate the bathroom, while aquamarine shades echo on floors and walls.

The primary area’s lighting adapts to the mood of the night, casting daylight shades during the day and warmer amber hues at night. It can be adjusted for a suitable ambiance. Meanwhile, an intimate nook concealed behind curtains is illuminated by a fabric dome shade, casting a gentle light. Artist Andrea Corvino designed unique tapestries for this space, featuring dynamic masks and animal patterns that complement the contemporary and industrial design elements.
