In a recent statement, the director of Peter Andre’s latest movie has responded following allegations that he donned “modern blackface” in the promotional clip for his new Jafaican film.

In response to the uproar and criticism, British-Nigerian author and director Fredi Nwaka did not explicitly comment, yet during his promotional tour for the movie, he emphasized that the globe requires laughter more than it does today.

In a world that seems incredibly serious these days, it’s almost as if people have misplaced their ability to smile or chuckle, he shared with Adelaide Now.

He went on to say that we seem to have lost the knack of smiling genuinely, and moreover, we struggle to let go of our negativity, even temporarily.

‘Comedy allows us to escape from our everyday life. Laughter – that’s the most infectious thing.’

Andre stars as Gary Buckle in the crime-comedy, a con artist pretending to be a Jamaican gangster. 

As Gary, or “Gazza” as some call me, I find myself on a challenging journey to immerse myself in the rich culture of Jamaica within the next 21 days. The purpose? To successfully carry out a fraudulent scheme spanning London and Jamaica, with the ultimate goal of amassing £35,000 (roughly AUD $72,321) to meet my beloved grandmother’s medical expenses. It’s a tough road ahead, but I’m determined to see it through.

As the movie is scheduled for release towards the end of this year, the trailer presented Peter with dreadlocks and adopting a Jamaican dialect. This has sparked criticism among fans, who find it deeply disrespectful.

In the year 2025, it came as a surprise to me that Peter Andre would portray the main character in a film titled JAFAICAN, where he dons a dreadlock wig and feigns being Jamaican – an unexpected sight indeed!

One observer pointed out that Peter had removed his tweet due to the unfavorable reaction and inquired: “Is it possible that the project ‘Jafaican’ is being discontinued because Peter Andre deleted his tweet?

Despite some initial apprehension, I soon found that not everyone shared the same negative sentiments about the trailer once other enthusiastic fans started voicing their anticipation for the movie’s premiere.

He announced that the first showing of the movie will take place at the Gold Coast Film Festival on May 9, and hinted that information about a UK premiere is forthcoming.

52-year-old man with five children, who recently spent a vacation bathed in sunlight in the Middle East, found himself amidst controversy following allegations that he portrayed “modern blackface” in his latest movie promoting the character of Jafaican.

On Tuesday, he posted a collection of pictures on Instagram, following his trip to the luxurious Yas Island resort in the UAE with his extended family.

Peter, the Mysterious Girl singer, and his wife Dr Emily MacDonagh were spotted having a fun-filled family vacation with his children Junior (aged 19) and Princess (17), who he has from a previous relationship with Katie Price, as well as their three shared children Amelia (11), Theo (9), and Arabella (13 months).
