Jon Hamm & John Slattery Reunite in Wild R-Rated Hollywood Comedy!

Actor Jon Hamm will be teaming up once more with his fellow cast member from the hit TV show “Mad Men.” Airing from 2007 to 2015 on AMC, this period drama series featured Hamm as Don Draper, an ad agency’s creative director known for his charm. The character of Don Draper is often credited as the role that catapulted Hamm to fame and recognition in many homes across the nation.

Now, Hamm and John Slattery, who played Roger Sterling on Mad Men, will reunite in a new R-rated comedy that takes place in the entertainment industry. David Wain, who is best known for directing Wet Hot American Summer, will helm the project, currently under the placeholder title Untitled David Wain Celebrity Pass Movie. Hamm and Slattery are joined by Zoey Deutch, Sabrina Impacciatore, Ben Wang, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Ken Marino. The movie’s logline reads:

The soon-to-be-wed Midwesterner Gail Daughtry, portrayed by Zoey Deutch, enjoys a “VIP access with celebrities” arrangement with her partner… and he takes full advantage of it. Facing relationship troubles, Gail embarks on an extraordinary adventure through Tinseltown to restore balance in their relationship.

Producer Anthony Bregman said in a statement:

For over two decades, my enthusiasm for collaborating with David has been ignited ever since I encountered what I believed to be the most hilarious screenplay of all time – “Wet Hot American Summer”. Now, after many years have passed, I am delighted to find myself working alongside him and Ken on a script that has left me in stitches more than any other.

Producer Crystine Zhang added:

I am absolutely thrilled to breathe life into this incredibly entertaining tale alongside an exceptional group of creatives. Collaborating with David Wain, Ken Marino, and assembling a cast that includes Zoey Deutch, Jon Hamm, and John Slattery has been an unparalleled joy. I can hardly wait for viewers to embark on this outrageously funny journey filled with genuine warmth.

What This Means For The Celebrity Hall Pass Movie

It All Comes Back To Hollywood

Hamm and Slattery have a notable rapport on screen, which was clear during their time together on the hit series Mad Men. Before reteaming for an upcoming R-rated comedy, they previously collaborated on Slattery’s directorial debut, Maggie Moore(s), featuring Tina Fey. In addition to sharing the screen in one of television’s most popular period dramas, both actors boast impressive film resumes. Hamm has roles in recent films such as Top Gun: Maverick, The Report, and Baby Driver, while Slattery has appeared alongside Oscar winners in Spotlight.

Titled “David Wain’s Celebrity Pass Movie“, this production was characterized as a “wild journey through contemporary Hollywood.” With a script penned by Wain and Marino, the upcoming film, set to be executive produced by both “Mad Men” stars, has the potential to become the type of humorously appealing comedy that Hollywood has been producing less frequently lately. It could prove to be a massive hit upon its release.

Our Take On The Mad Men Reunion In David Wain’s Celebrity Hall Pass Movie

Hamm And Slattery Could Play Themselves In The New Movie

The specific parts Hamm and Slattery will play are yet to be defined, but the idea of a woman’s quest for retribution in Hollywood sounds intriguing, to say the least. In this film, Zoey Deutch portrays the bride-to-be, although her engagement might not last long. Since the story unfolds within the realm of the entertainment industry, it remains to be seen if Hamm and Slattery will appear as celebrities or executives.

In real life, both Hamm and Slattery are well-known personalities, yet they have proven themselves as skilled executives on-screen, with Hamm particularly shining recently as the oil company head in Taylor Sheridan’s series “Landman” and leading the cast of the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Your Friends & Neighbors”. The specifics of their roles are being kept secret, so fans will have to wait for further information. Filmed in Los Angeles, the release date for this production remains undisclosed.
