Playing the Oricorio deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket
The constructed Oricorio deck emphasizes utilizing Oricorio’s Safeguard skill to delay opponent’s EX Pokemon, allowing ample time to strengthen your primary attackers, Tapu Koko and Pikachu EX.
The Oricorio setup is designed to protect against opposing EX Pokemon with its Safeguard ability, giving more time for you to prepare your main attacking Pokemon, Tapu Koko and Pikachu EX.
The optimal card for enhancing Oricorio’s skill is undeniably Shaymin. This special card permits each of your Pokémon, including Oricorio, to return to the bench at least once per turn.
At the start of the game, aim to position Shaymin and Oricorio on your playing field. For offensive moves, you can either choose to deploy Pikachu ex or Tapu Koko as your initial active Pokemon, utilizing whichever one you find suitable.
So long as Shaymin remains secure, there are numerous strategies for claiming victory in the game, based on how your adversary reacts. If your adversary uses a non-Pokemon EX card like Pikachu EX or Tapu Koko, they should be quick enough to engage in a battle with them head-on. However, if you’re up against a Pokemon EX, promptly switch to Oricorio to make their Pokemon an easy target.
Strive to launch attacks frequently, and whenever your adversary attempts to heal a weakened Pokémon, consider switching to Pikachu ex or Tapu Koko to maintain the offensive momentum.
Gradually reducing an opponent’s Pokemon’s Health Points (HP) will likely lead to victory in the game, particularly if their strategy heavily depends on using Pokemon cards specifically.
Other notable cards in the deck
Professor’s Research, Poké Ball, and Pokémon Communication
With these three utility cards at your disposal, you can maximize your chances of discovering various Pokémon cards, including Shaymin and Oricorio, and amplify the damage output of Pikachu ex’s Circle Circuit.
Red and Cyrus
Essentially, employing Red intensifies the damage your Pokemon dishes out to the opposing Pokemon, like Cyrus who can score a KO by swapping the low-health benched Pokemon of your opponent from the bench to the active area.
Pokémon Center Lady and Giant Cape
These two cards offer additional resilience for any of your Pokémon characters, particularly Shaymin, who can be vulnerable to long-range attacks from Pokémon such as Greninja or Wugtrio ex.
Poison Barb
Equip your Oricorio or Shaymin with a Toxic Spike, that way you’ll be able to retaliate if your opponent chooses to attack them.
Strong against
In most matchups within the game, including those featuring Giratina ex and Darkrai ex decks, the Oricorio deck is effective. Should your adversary rely solely on a Pokémon ex for their strategy, Oricorio by itself has the potential to defeat it.
In simpler terms, the rules for victory involve locating as numerous Pokémon cards within your collection as you can.
Weak against
Consider carefully before playing this deck against other Oricorio players. Besides them being well-aware of your strategy, the outcome could swing either way, leaving your Pikachu EX ineffective.
A great alternative opponent for Oricorio is non-EX Pokemon. Instead, your competitor could employ numerous potent Pokemon cards that don’t have the EX attribute, such as Skarmory, Togekiss, Lucario, and Marshadow.
Last but not least, I’ve found that Oricorio and Shaymin’s relatively low Health Points make them vulnerable to skilled marksmen. Eliminating them could potentially throw off my strategy, slowing down my progress.
