Coronation Street Star Rushed to Hospital After Two Falls: Inside His Health Scare
Actress Charlie Lawson from Coronation Street shared that he was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital following two falls.
In a more casual and straightforward manner, we can say: The 65-year-old actor is mainly recognized for portraying Jim McDonald in the TV series, and he often shared scenes with Beverley Callard, who played his romantic interest Liz, on and off.
In my latest vlog on X, I opened up about an unexpected turn of events during a routine physiotherapy session. I found myself being rushed to the emergency room (A&E) and am now patiently waiting for additional medical examinations following an MRI scan. Keep me in your thoughts as I navigate through this health journey.
He informed his group: “Good day everyone, I visited the physical therapist this morning, and they immediately directed me to the emergency room. Guess where I ended up?
‘They examined me. I have an MRI scan and I’m sitting waiting for the results.
They’ve taken me in again for further tests, which suggests things aren’t looking great at the moment. But don’t worry, I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.

They gave me a wristband and it was quite an eventful time. I’ve taken a couple of tumbles, indicating that perhaps things aren’t going smoothly below.
Charlie’s supporters promptly expressed their good wishes, saying: “Sending a heap of affection and optimistic vibes.
‘Well sounds like you’re in the right place! Hopefully they’ll sort you out quickly;
‘Wishing you all the best Charlie. Get well soon!’
Although Charlie was a prominent figure on the soap when he began in 1989, he recently disclosed that his current financial situation is so dire that he cannot even pay for heating at home.
In a recent disclosure, the Irish actor shared that the year 2024 posed the most challenging experience for him within the entertainment sector. He also stated that his contract with the BBC was terminated following allegations that he held ‘anti-trans’ perspectives.
Additionally, their financial difficulties were exacerbated when Debbie’s farm store in Prestbury, Cheshire was closed, leading to almost £50,000 worth of outstanding debts that prompted legal action against them.
On The Nolan Show, Charlie openly shared that the year 2024 has been his least successful one out of the past 44 years.

There are numerous concerns related to that situation. I have a significant amount of gray hair on my head, I’m 64 years old, and there seems to be fewer sections left.
When asked about his financial arrangements, he revealed to Stephen Nolan that at present, he works for GB News. However, he needs to renew his contract next year. Additionally, his wife Debbie manages a shelter for women.
In the living room, wearing my hunting attire, I mentioned that since the couple couldn’t afford to turn on the heating, it’s quite chilly here as I am an outdoor enthusiast and don’t keep the heat running throughout the day.
As a diligent follower, I acknowledge that we’ve had our challenging periods, such as last year when the cold weather seemed relentless even during the winter months. However, I assure you, this year, the intensity of the heat should lessen.
Charles, who’s been with Debbie for over fifteen years, shared that he considers himself fortunate she’s employed, but they must remain cautious about their spending habits.
He commented: “Debbie serves as manager of a women’s shelter, and she receives a salary. At the moment, I too am earning a wage until January, so we’re financially stable. However, we haven’t taken a vacation overseas this year, nor do we dine at The Ivy when returning to Belfast. One must make do with what one has.
I reside just 50 feet away from our village’s pub, The Rodney, making it convenient for me to stroll instead of taking a taxi whenever I want to visit. Plus, I can even set up a tab there.
As someone who recognizes my blessings, I find myself fortunate to be part of a dual-income household. Although our earnings may not be substantial, they place us above many others in terms of financial stability.
In my role as a lifestyle guide, I’d like to share an intriguing conversation I recently encountered. When our esteemed host posed the question about the decline in Charlie’s work, he attributed it to being ‘cancelled’ by the BBC. This decision, according to him, was due to their perception that he held anti-trans views.
He clarified: ‘In my profession, it’s not commonly acknowledged, but the truth is, your personal beliefs, the values you uphold, and the topics you discuss on social platforms can indeed influence things.’
He originally planned to be on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, but he ended up being taken off the job. Here’s why: Around 18 months ago, he lost a different job – not a significant one, but still a job – as a celebrity on Antiques Roadshow. This was due to his association with Sharron Davies and Kellie-Jay Keen from the Let Women Speak movement. In essence, this group advocates for women’s rights in sports.
As a committed supporter, I’ve been following the movement that has been echoing across diverse segments of our community, including straight and lesbian women. Regrettably, they’ve been subjected to vile acts such as having objects hurled at them in Hyde Park and more. These individuals, masked in balaclavas and the like, are unfortunately creating an environment of hostility and intolerance.
Additionally, I became part of the Let Women Speak campaign and shared some tweets expressing my backing for Sharon Davies and her advocacy in women’s sports, as well as Kellie-Jay Keen for having the courage to voice her convictions.
Additionally, I should mention that my representative was informed by the BBC through an email stating, “We regret to inform you that we cannot utilize Charlie due to his anti-trans views, which is a fact. If anyone disputes this, I have the email as evidence. Here it stands.
They mentioned that I wasn’t able to participate in Celebrity Antiques Roadshow, as my stance on trans issues was perceived as unfavorable.
At first, I found myself chuckling when my agent broke the news. My response was, “You’re kidding, right?” Then, I felt quite enraged and considered escalating the situation. However, after discussing it with my spouse, friends in the industry, and my agent, I decided it would be best to let it go.
It was verified that the final list of performers for the show was revealed in October, but unfortunately, Charlie didn’t make the cut.
They contested the assertion that Charlie got any letter, stating that not every dialogue with prospective celebrities results in bookings.
As I reflect on my journey, it isn’t the first time that Debbie and I, having closed our farm shop back in 2018, have faced financial hardships. Eight years ago, we embarked on this venture with high hopes, but unfortunately, circumstances forced us to make the difficult decision of shutting down operations. Previously, I’ve been open about the tough choices we had to make, and admitted that we were left with no other option but to ‘call it quits’.
In his autobiography titled “That’s Life, So It Is,” Charlie wrote: ‘Debbie was struggling more and more to keep the business afloat as successfully as she had in the past, and it was taking a toll on her health.’
After having multiple in-depth discussions about our course of action, it was inevitable that we would reach the same conclusion.
‘But Debbie couldn’t give up on our little business and it was breaking her heart.
Over time, the numbers became completely illogical. Every day she was losing money, which was concerning, but even more worrying was the deterioration of her physical health and mental peace.
Eventually, my colleague, the accountant, and I both agreed that it would be wise for her to shut down the operation to prevent a catastrophe.
Based on documents obtained by The Mirror last June, it appears that Charlie failed to meet deadlines for repaying a £37,000 debt stemming from the collapse of his deli in 2018.
At Prestbury’s Farm Shop, outstanding debts surpassed £50,000, including the £14,500 owed to liquidators. Reports suggest that Jim may face legal consequences due to the money he hasn’t repaid.
A turkey farm, wine suppliers, an energy firm, and various companies from places like France were all due money from the same source.
Liquidators asserted that it might not be suitable for Lawson and his spouse, Debbie, to handle corporate management responsibilities in the future.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share some insights based on information from HMRC. During the timeframe covered by this report, I haven’t received any additional funds related to the cost settlement for liquidation.
So far, a total of £3,160 has been paid, but there’s still an outstanding balance that needs to be settled. Since no reply was received from the guarantor, lawyers have been asked to recover the remaining amount due.
Given the present data, I’m sorry to say, but it seems unlikely that we’ll have enough resources to make a distribution to unsecured creditors at this time.
In the year 2010, Charlie established the business alongside his partner Debbie. Since then, it’s not uncommon to find him at the counter, offering a variety of handcrafted cheeses, meats, and game.
His agent told the publication that ‘the matter is in hand and ongoing.’
In the past, Charlie faced significant financial hardships and in 2001, he was forced to file for bankruptcy due to a substantial debt of approximately £200,000, which he owed to the Inland Revenue and various financial institutions.
