Squid Game Season 3 Trailer Drops: Deadlier Games, Shocking Twists, and Old Foes Return!

Are you interested in giving it another go? We now have the first glimpse of the third and last season of the popular show “Squid Game.” Following on from where Season 2 left off at the end of last year, this new season will once again feature Lee Jung-jae as the heroic player Seong Gi-hun, who’s about to face challenges even tougher than before. Take a look at the freshly released trailer for “Squid Game” Season 3 below.

In the debut season of Squid Game, the story revolves around a competition involving 456 participants from various backgrounds, all struggling financially, who engage in dangerous versions of childhood games to potentially win a staggering 45.6 billion Won. This gripping series was masterminded by Hwang Dong-hyuk and garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and viewers, resulting in numerous award nominations, including 14 at the Primetime Emmy Awards, with Lee Jung-jae taking home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Three years following the sensational success of the pop culture juggernaut Squid Game Season 1, Player 456 – our victorious competitor – reconsiders his original goal of moving to the United States and instead finds himself drawn back into the enigmatic world of survival games. This time around, he embarks on a fresh round of life-threatening competition, welcoming new contestants who are eager to claim the staggering prize money of 45.6 billion won.

‘Squid Game’ Season 3 Scheduled To Hit Netflix on June 27, 2025

In contrast to its critical reception compared to the initial release, Season 2 of the series Squid Game has proven another massive success for Netflix, accumulating an astounding 68 million views in its debut week and outshining the previous record holder, Wednesday, with just 50.1 million views. The second season of Squid Game features the return of Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-jun, along with newcomers such as Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an. The talented actor Lee Byung-hun reprises his role as the enigmatic Front Man from both I Saw the Devil and The Magnificent Seven, who this time has a plan of his own up his sleeve.

The conclusion of Squid Game Season 2 sparked debate, as the second stage concluded on an unsatisfying note, leaving viewers hanging. However, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk later explained his reasoning behind ending the season in such a manner:

Initially, I conceived it as one continuous series, with seasons two and three merging into one narrative while I was penning it. However, as I progressed with the storytelling, it turned out to be excessively long due to Gi-hun’s odyssey that encompasses his reentry into the game, a revolt that forms the crux of the storyline, and ultimately leads to an uprising that unfortunately collapses.

In Season 2, The Front Man disguised himself among the players, leading to the failure we experienced. As Lee Jung-jae explains, at the start of Season 3, Gi-hun remains unaware of this betrayal and believes he is responsible for all that transpired. He’s been blaming himself instead.
