Zoe Ball returns to BBC Radio 2 with new show after enjoying “a few lie-ins”

Zoe Ball has returned to radio after leaving BBC Radio 2‘s weekday breakfast show behind last year.

After resuming her weekend program, the host openly acknowledged taking a couple of leisurely mornings off and savoring her recently flexible timetable.

Ball hosted the morning show for five years, meaning she was committed to 4am starts.

After leaving the program, she mentioned that she’s been enjoying some later mornings, and furthermore, folks have become aware not to call her before 9:30 a.m.

In April 2024, the host temporarily stepped away from her morning program to provide care for her ailing mother, Julia, who was battling pancreatic cancer. Coincidentally, Ball’s mother passed away during the same month, and he expressed his sorrow in an Instagram tribute post.

In November, it was revealed that Ball would stop hosting the morning program, with her final episode airing in December. Scott Mills was subsequently named as Ball’s successor on the breakfast show.

2019 saw Ball assume the morning hosting role previously held by Chris Evans on Radio 2, marking her as the station’s first permanent female breakfast presenter.

After wrapping up her final morning show, she proudly noted, “It’s amazing to be the pioneer in this role, but I certainly won’t be the only one!” She concluded with a powerful message: “Don’t forget, ladies, you’re capable of achieving anything.
