Doctor Who Season 15 Finale: Ruby Sunday’s Return and Mrs. Flood’s Shocking Reveal
Millie Gibson previews Ruby Sunday’s upcoming roles in ‘Doctor Who’ season 15 and shares her thoughts on the ongoing enigma surrounding Mrs. Flood (Anita Dobson). Following her travels with the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) across ‘Doctor Who’ season 14, Ruby established a home on Earth with her expanded family in the finale. Yet, while waiting for the Time Lord’s return, Ruby encounters a much darker human danger in the series’ recent episode, “Lucky Day,” which could potentially undermine all that she, the Doctor, and UNIT have been striving to protect.
In a chat with ScreenRant, the actress revealed that her character, Ruby, will make a comeback in the final two episodes of Doctor Who season 15, despite needing some time off after “Lucky Day.” The star also commended Dobson’s portrayal of Mrs. Flood, hinting that she too was caught off guard by the revelation of her real identity. You can find Gibson’s complete response in the link provided.
Even though Ruby tends to be quite dramatic, as she once said she needed solitude, “I need to find a place all by myself, completely alone,” she has returned. It was thrilling to see her again in episodes 7 and 8. I can’t reveal much more than that.
Nevertheless, I’m thrilled to be here for the finale, and I felt privileged to return. As for Mrs. Flood, yes, I did know! However, my previous assumptions were way off the mark, which might give fans some insight. Fans of Doctor Who are incredibly astute, so they likely guessed correctly. But when I found out, I was taken aback and exclaimed, “Oh!
In my opinion, Anita Dobson is nothing short of extraordinary, and whomever she may turn out to be would undeniably become iconic. However, it’s Mrs. Flood who has always captured my heart. I find her absolutely enchanting, with a touch of unpredictable charm that could only come from a chaotic neighbor. If she moved in next door to me, I would surely feel as if I were in for quite an adventure, exclaiming to myself, “I’m in trouble!” It’s just the unique energy she exudes that makes her so captivating.
Moreover, it’s delightful to know she lives near Belinda too. That seems to have left everyone puzzled. I must say, it’s quite cunning.
What Gibson’s Response Means For Doctor Who’s Season 15 Finale
Conrad Has Few Limits In His War Against The Doctor
In episode 4 of season 15, the ending of Doctor Who really tested Ruby to her breaking point. Even though she was determined to follow in the Doctor’s footsteps, the deceitful tactics and false information spread by Conad (Jonah Haur-King) and his Think Tank podcast demonstrated that the dangers aren’t confined to outer space alone. However, with Mrs. Flood now joining forces with Conrad, it’s evident that he won’t hesitate to go to great lengths in his pursuit of revenge against the Doctor. Although UNIT has regained some public trust, Conrad’s actions have already set a chilling precedent.
In the course of unmasking UNIT, Conrad and Think Tank disclosed personal data about the organization’s staff, some of whom were former associates of the Time Lord. This act seems to have resulted in many of these individuals experiencing harassment in their personal lives. Given that Ruby is one of these past companions, she may play a significant role in this ongoing “Doctor Who” narrative, considering her planned return. Additionally, Gibson’s awareness of Mrs. Flood’s real identity suggests that Ruby will be present for any future revelations.
Our Take On Ruby’s Doctor Who Season 15 Finale Role
The Doctor Will Need All The Help He Can Get
In the season 15 finale of Doctor Who, Ruby will be present in both parts, opening up a possibility that she and the Doctor might meet again at last. Although his extended stay on Earth during “Joy to the World” has altered his views on relationships, the Time Lord remains hesitant about reconnecting with his Earth-bound associates directly. Yet, despite this reluctance, he’s kept a watchful eye on them. With Gibson hinting at Mrs. Flood’s surprising true identity, it’s evident that the danger posed by her and Conrad is too significant for the Time Lord to tackle alone.
