Brutal Deaths in Another Simple Favor Ranked From Least to Most Shocking

Attention: This piece includes plot twists from the movie “Another Simple Favor,” along with graphic depictions of imaginary character demises.

The streaming thriller “Another Simple Favor” on Prime Video features numerous gruesome deaths throughout its complex plotline. It serves as a follow-up to the 2018 film “A Simple Favor,” which was helmed by Paul Feig from a screenplay by Jessica Sharzer, based on Darcey Bell’s 2017 novel of the same name. In this sequel, Feig and Sharzer team up once more, with recurring characters like Emily (Blake Lively), Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), and Emily’s former spouse Sean (Henry Golding) joined by fresh faces such as Emily’s fiancé Dante (Michele Morrone), his mother Portia (Elena Sofia Ricci), and Stephanie’s agent Vicky (Alex Newell).

Throughout the movie Another Simple Favor, many characters find themselves in grave danger at multiple instances. By the end, close to a handful of them meet their untimely demise in different ways, each with varying degrees of severity due to their distinct methods of operation and diverse perpetrators involved. Moreover, a swim coach’s death by suicide occurs prior to the narrative but is presented through flashbacks, leaving an unsettling impact on Stephanie as she believes her actions may have contributed to it.

5. Agent Irene Walker

Played By Taylor Ortega

In the 2025 film “Another Simple Favor,” it’s FBI Agent Irene Walker who meets an untimely end. At first, she appears as a cryptic figure following Stephanie, but soon her true colors show as she pursues Emily’s swindler aunt Linda (Allison Janney). Unfortunately for Stephanie, Irene provides more confusion than safety, even shouting her name while trying to whisk her off to a nearby secure location. Just moments after this blunder, Emily’s long-lost triplets Charity (played by Blake Lively) stabs Irene in the back.

In the film Another Simple Favor, Irene’s death, though violent, isn’t as gruesome as the other murders depicted. This is due to the fact that, much like other scenes featuring Irene, it incorporates a good deal of humor or comedic elements. Additionally, the death scene unfolds quite rapidly, serving to confuse and overwhelm Stephanie, who, in her state of shock from the sudden turn of events, ends up clutching another bloody knife. This only adds to her suspicion, even though she is innocent of all the deaths that occur during Emily’s wedding in Capri.

4. Margaret McLanden

Played By Elizabeth Perkins

As Linda (who raised Charity, whom she had kidnapped as an infant, for her criminal activities) moves through their victims, one of them is supposedly Linda’s sister, Margaret McLanden, the mother of triplets Hope, Faith, and Charity. Although Margaret exhibits symptoms of dementia, she manages to tell Stephanie about Linda’s past betrayal during a brief lucid moment in Capri. This revelation prompts Linda to take revenge by smothering her with a pillow. This action silences Margaret, preventing her from revealing any more details about Linda’s hidden criminal history to others.

The murder in question isn’t excessively violent in terms of graphic content, as it lacks blood, but it is more startling than Irene’s death due to Margaret being a recurring character from the initial film (previously played by Jean Smart). As such, she holds a significant place within the franchise, despite her supporting role. Moreover, the fact that Linda has killed her own sister intensifies the series’ recurring themes of sibling strife escalating into passion, violence, and other complex emotions.

3. Dante Versano

Played By Michele Morrone

On the night of Emily’s wedding to Dante, it might have been anticipated that something tragic could happen, given the attendance of their rival crime family, the Bartolos. Despite being invited to promote peace, tensions escalated earlier when Stephanie inadvertently recorded a Bartolo family member while taking a video. This incident resulted in guns being drawn, which suggests that Dante’s death from multiple gunshot wounds (later confirmed to have been inflicted by Charity) could plausibly be linked to mob activities, complicating the investigation and raising questions about who the real perpetrator was.

Dante’s demise was particularly gruesome due to what followed, not so much the manner of his injury. It’s probable he died from gunshot wounds, but after that, he tumbled into a storage area filled with wedding fireworks. A stray spark from another bullet ignited these fireworks, causing an explosion that likely burned him beyond recognition, although his charred remains were never displayed onscreen afterwards. The emotional impact of his tragic end is intensified by the irony that the fireworks detonating around him were intended for his wedding festivities, not as a mark of his passing.

2. Sean Townsend

Played By Henry Golding

In the storyline of “Another Simple Favor,” Sean Townsend, a character whose life has disintegrated significantly following the events portrayed in the initial film, is the first to meet an untimely end. Interestingly, his demise is hinted at in the opening scene itself. This sequence, starting mid-action with Stephanie live-streaming while under house arrest and asserting her innocence, subtly suggests Sean’s death. It isn’t until later in the narrative that we learn that when Stephanie mentions the deceased husband of Emily, she is actually referring to Dante, as both of Emily’s husbands have already passed away by the time the movie syncs up with that initial scene.

In addition, it’s noteworthy that Sean is the sole character from A Simple Favor who was portrayed by the original actor to meet a tragic end within the film. His demise, though initially appearing subtle, is quite gruesome. The scene resembles Janet Leigh’s shocking shower death in the 1960’s Psycho, as an unseen attacker confronts him in the shower. An unknown substance is injected into his fingertip, leading to a brain hemorrhage. Consequently, he dies from excessive bleeding through his ears, mouth, and nose, crashing through the glass shower wall in the process.

1. Aunt Linda McLanden

Played By Allison Janney

In one of the most shocking twists in the movie, it turns out that Aunt Linda, who joined the cast as Emily’s aunt, is the mastermind behind the series of murders. While Charity commits most of the killings and ultimately takes the blame for all of them, Aunt Linda has been orchestrating the operation from behind the scenes, tidying up Charity’s messes along the way. Her ultimate goal is to amass enough wealth from the situation to retire in luxury.

In a turn of events, Linda’s cruel behavior towards Charity proves to be her undoing as she fails to maintain control over the lovelorn triplet who holds a deep psychosexual interest in her sister. The film, Another Simple Favor, ends with a gruesome scene where Linda is pushed off the cliffside at Capri’s Tiberius’ Leap, a notorious spot where Emperor Tiberius reportedly disposed of unamused entertainers. This fall results in a violent and grisly death for Linda, the most ruthless antagonist among all characters in the movie.
