Pete Doherty Bounces Back on Stage After Shocking Health Scare: ‘Wake-Up Call’ Revealed!
During his European tour, Pete Doherty seemed upbeat and energetic while performing on stage in Germany, following his announcement that his recent health issue served as a wake-up call for him.
On a Friday evening, the lead singer of The Libertines, who is 46 years old, performed at Huxley’s Neue Welt in Berlin as part of his ongoing Felt Better Alive European tour.
As I strolled onto the stage, I exuded a relaxed yet polished vibe, dressed in my signature outfit – a shirt and jeans paired elegantly with a sleek black blazer and my ever-present fedora hat. Under the spotlight, I delivered my hits to an enthusiastic crowd of fans.
Despite my recent battles with health issues, I’m once again standing tall, belting out tunes and moving to the rhythm! It feels amazing to be back on my feet!
Last year, I was hit with a life-altering diagnosis – Type 2 diabetes. Come March, the gravity of this condition became all too real when I learned that amputation of my toes might be imminent due to complications.
At his concert in Munich, Germany, as reported by The Sun, Pete shared some news about his health with his audience.

He mentioned that he visited a doctor recently, who advised you to minimize walking or standing for extended periods, because if you don’t, there’s a risk of losing your toes.
He apparently didn’t notice the sores on his feet until two of his toes went black in January.
He told The Times that it was a close call as to whether he could stay on his feet, given that he had lost sensation in them.
People with diabetes may experience foot problems due to the potential damage high blood sugar levels cause to blood vessels, which affects blood circulation to the feet and legs.
He acknowledged that it served as a genuine eye-opener, and since then, he has essentially abstained from drinking.
Pete added: ‘I now indulge in a weekly gin and tonic, but I’ve largely abstained from alcohol and managed to bring my blood sugar under control. As a result, my toes are mending well.’
For quite some time now, the artist has been candid regarding his health issues. In 2023, he expressed that he sensed a looming presence of death, attributing this to the damage inflicted on his body by years of excessive substance use, primarily drugs and alcohol.
He confided in documentarian Louis Theroux that he considered himself to be extremely ill, stating, “I’ve certainly given it my all, I’ve truly pushed myself to the limit.

Initially, I succumbed to hard drugs like heroin and crack. Then came cocaine, smoking, and alcohol. Now, my vices have shifted towards food and drink, including cheese, sausage, and an excessive amount of sugar in my tea.
This past spring, Pete made it official that he has Type 2 diabetes, stating, “I was just diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and right now, I’m finding it difficult to manage my cholesterol levels.
It appears that Pete took his doctor’s stern advice to heart and started working on improving his self-discipline.
Previously, the star shared with the Evening Standard that his physician advised an immediate switch in his eating habits.
He shared with the media outlet: “I’ve consulted a liver specialist who advises me to modify my diet due to excessive intake of cheese and milk.
Even though health concerns like high cholesterol and diabetes have arisen, I still choose to remain because of the fantastic cheese. Fortunately, medication helps manage these issues significantly.
Earlier on, the rocker openly acknowledged that his more substantial build stems from indulging in a secret delight he feels guilty about.
2021 marked a significant change in my lifestyle, as I swapped my former drug habit for a more harmless indulgence – cheese on toast. Nowadays, I cherish the luxury of extended mornings, a stark contrast to the sleepless nights that once characterized my most adventurous years.
