This Morning star admits she feared being “dropped” by show over big announcement

This morning‘s host, Sian Welby, confessed that she had apprehensions about possibly being let go from the show after a major revelation was made.

In February 2024, the presenter shared the news that she and her fiancé, Jake Beckett, were going to have a baby. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Ruby, in June of the same year.

Approximately a year later, Welby revealed on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast that she had initially concealed her pregnancy due to the fear of losing her position. She reminisced: “At the start of a job, you think: ‘no one truly knows me yet, that I can be trusted,’ and you need to demonstrate your reliability.

In the interview on “This Morning,” I felt validated, confident that I could handle it. When Dermot O’Leary offered me my first cover, I was already pregnant, although I hadn’t shared the news with anyone yet.

In the recesses of my thoughts, I found myself pondering, “If I disclose that I’m pregnant, might it affect their decision to work with me again? And could they perceive me as being absent for a prolonged period?

As a gamer, I can relate when I’m stepping into a new game, I often find myself thinking, “I bet many women feel this way in any job they start. It’s that uneasy feeling of being instantly judged, or perhaps being overlooked, or even having them question why I didn’t disclose certain things.

During his current stint on “This Morning”, Vanessa Feltz has shared the reasons behind her exit, stating, “I adore ‘This Morning’, I wouldn’t dream of leaving it; my affection for it knows no bounds.

Instead, I could’ve just as gladly left the “This Morning” studio and hopped onto a motorcycle directly to Channel 5, handling both engagements smoothly.

Initially, I thought I could manage it, but upon further reflection, it seems my approach wasn’t correct… However, had I proceeded, I believe they would have appreciated my efforts.
